Warlock End Cap

end capstone is just the tip of the iceberg tbh

monk and druid tree problems get addressed immediately while we get left in the gutter

I’d agree but there is nothing else in the class tree that I would consider. I can move other points around to situationally grab amp curse or banish if needed without affecting that node. The tree is pretty terrible in my opinion.

That point went directly into Darkfury for me. that capstone is completely dead in m+ now.

Well I am glad people are at least voicing their opinions now rather than all the “it’s just alpha/beta give them time” we see until it’s too late. Not sure if it will lead to much, but it’s better than just hearing how much DF class design has improved(which it probably has overall) when there are still glaring underlying issues for some specs

People were definitely voicing their opinion on Soul Swap and it was 100% ignored.

but don’t worry they will announce the ptr for 10.0.7 in a few weeks so this whole process can start over.

I have this sinking feeling that some specs will be in beta development mode the entire xpac. Affliction is definitely one of them.

blizzard for once deliver a finish product, why you redesign a class at the start of an expansion to make it even worse? always warlock in your mind to nerf!

Y’all act like Blizzard reads this forum. We need people to make more of a stink in the actual PTR forum.

UH…

Did you not see the daily threads being spammed on Soul Swap? They don’t read those forums either.

I would be interested to know how they operate. Are they an agile shop? Are they product oriented and customer focused?

Guessing not, else we’d see a lot more interaction with them.

At least that would be useful. Might increase DPS too! push buttons faster!!!

Yes, exactly. If every spec has the same talent…why is it not in the class tree? Vlizzard devs are so arbitrary in their decisions to make certain things in the class tree and what to make baseline.

Yep, if it only increases my damage by .5% or whatever, im picking survivability. Lwt blizzard see that we deem their recent “redesigns” as garbage work and we wont be partaking in it.

Blizzard’s oversight is shocking. It doesnt take but one second to realize another felstorm that is free and is buffed by tier set is going to pull ahead of something that costs two shards and is a static ground placement. Simple fix would be to have tier buff that too, and reduce the cost down to one shard since it cant follow enemies around.

My favorite part is the repeat dishonesty with this expansion’s warlock changes:

  1. Felguard is too hard to read in PvP…so our expect team has decided to gut it instead of spending 2 hours of chargeable time and making it easier to read.

  2. Affliction is having GCD issues, so we are gutting the only spell that allievated that. We also refuse to increase the duration on any of the DoT spells.

  3. Our intent was to halfass your capstones but they actually ended up overperforming soo…–ahem err…we mean that the Soulkeeper and IGaze talents feel really odd to use. These changes should fix their functionality, at the small cost of gutting both abilities.

An extreme no brainer. Warlock class tree was a massive swing and embarrassing miss. It’s even more pathetic because it was one of the trees that took the longest to develop.

“No no it’s fine! They’ll still have plenty of time to iterate on feedback!” RIP haha

Indeed legit 1/2 the recent threads in the PTR forums are warlock related

Generally I don’t post on the forums because most people have it covered.

But wow, from old talent trees to the MOP trees, lock lost a lot of flavor and functionality. And I’d originally hoped for some end cap to be… good and flavorful (mage 2nd lust, DK abom limb, shadow dance, etc.). I’ve played since BC and this is the blandest warlock has been in a while.

But Blizz not only swung and missed on Dragonflight roll out, but on the first patch made both Warlock Capstones (what should be powerful, flavorful, and what ties a spec together) completely unsynergetic and kneecapped. Inquisitors Eye now procs Eranog ring less, and Soulkeeper (not even viable before this patch) is now 20% worse than before.

Highlighting what Hellbraive said: Repeat Dishonesty.

That seems to be the central theme around Warlock changes. We’re not close to the top 3 of even the heroic charts, and we have no alternative spec to divvy into (tank/heals/etc.).

This is a personal thought, but non-hybrid classes should be a bit more potent in DPS. Obviously not overpowered, but how did that turn into a 90% nerf the day of a patch release. Smdh

Cool ideas for capstones:
Doomlord Perma Pit (a la Felguard in Wrath) it shows warlocks general progression of power to enslave demons over time.

Kil’Jaeden’s Cunning - just flat bring it back. We’ve mastered summoning tactics in a way that allows us to cast while moving adding mobility to a class that in Aff/Destro is a stationary turret.

Sargeras’ Flames - Rip open the portal to Illidan/Sargeras that shoots a cone of shadowflame out of it. Can make it channeled/stun/instill fear/etc.

Demon Horns/Wings Passive - Tap into the inner demon and add some x% of damage to spells as chaos magic. Like Inquisitor’s Eye, but not rppm and has a cool visual effect as a capstone

Hell… take one from Hunter’s and allow us to have two pets out at once as a capstone. Is it that hard to come up with not OP, but still powerful and flavorful capstones?

C’mon like… who on earth want’s smol eye and the first add in the Gul’dan fight thats been kneecapped time and again

Naah mate, there wasn’t even a swing… Pretty sure those devs were in the carpark out back getting some ‘feedback’ from a couple of melee classes.
