"Lake of Fire (Rune) – The Lake of Fire rune now requires the warlock to channel the full duration of Rain of Fire to gain the increased fire damage benefit.
Metamorphosis (Rune) – Warlocks may no longer gain the benefit of Soul Link while in Metamorphosis form."
So what exactly is the point here?
Lake of Fire is now completely useless for anything.
And Meta, the demo rune where you TURN INTO A DEMON is no longer compatible with the DEMONOLOGY TREE?
I really have to ask, do you (Blizzard) have a systematic process for making poor decisions? It’s like you excel at that and nothing else.

Unrelated but when aggrend said humans can use their new weapon skills for bows so they could shoot higher level mobs is when i lost all faith in him. Obviously he doesnt play the game.

LOL I was thinking the same thing. Like ok, my warrior friends will be super happy to know they’ll hit a 25 dmg ranged shot every 2-3 seconds per engagement.

Did you need more proof that these ‘devs’ suck? If you haven’t figured that by out by now…

Just to Steel Man for Blizzard,
For lake of fire,
You have to fill the lake and catch it on fire first, which is the initial Lake of Fire. Once it’s filled and on fire then you can stoke the flames for the rune effect.
For Meta,
When you turn into a demon, your demon no longer wants to Soul Link with you. That being because demons hate other demons. A sin that helped get them in hell and why you can only summon one at a time, else they would fight.
Automatically systematically.

the lake change is good cuz that part of our single target rotation was beyond jank and i’m glad it’s gone. sure losing the damage amp sucks but destro kinda needed some retuning anyway
losing soul link on meta locks is really lame though and idk why blizzard did that
and i’m saying that as one of the 5 unironic afftanks out there

It’s not a good change. It’s not a good change at all. If it was so janky, you could have just, you know, not used it? Now it serves no purpose at all, not for aoe threat for tanking, not for aoe damage. You might as well have just deleted it.

Lake of Fire is not even good for aoe now, its a dead rune. Warlock aoe is pretty much done as well. This should have just applied damage to Rain of fire and hellfire and otherwise been left alone atleast.

It baffled me how in the game mode where every spec is pretty viable for something, they’d go and just arbitrarily decide demonology isnt allowed to be good at anything.

I just did a Gnomeregan run with the new Lake of Fire changes. It did not at all feel viable for single target fights with my group. It feels pretty mediocre for trash since your first Rain of Fire no longer gets a damage increase. My overall damage was so much lower using Demonic Tactics compared to the old Lake of Fire. I tried to see if there was a difference between using Grimoire of Synergy and Shadow and Flame. It felt like Shadow and Flame was better, but it’s hard to tell from one run.
It’s definitely not intended for single Target. We were like a top 3 DPS so it makes sense they wanted to nerf us. DPS wise I think we got off pretty easily.
It was too strong. Thats why Bliz changed it. It was probably an oversight.
Then nerf the rune not the talent capstone of the least played spec. Soul link gave us the unique ability to mitigate burst the most of all the tanks while having less stamina due to being a caster.
I was under the impression warlocks had high stamina comparative to a lot of other classes?
To other casters, for sure. 15% more stam from similar gear is a lot. Compared to other tanks, no so much. Shamans and rogues have runes that buff health, and plate historically has more stam. The latter appears to being addressed in how they (blizz) are gearing us warlocks, so time will tell. Right now, we are mostly armor focused as our sole mitigation, but we are at least getting some magic reduction and a suvival instincts.
Other tanks dont have crit immunity, the reduction in damage, and the high stamina.
It all evens out. Clearly Bliz saw that sac was too op for a tank to have.

You sure about that? Pretty sure all tanks have most of those things. Heck, that reads pretty much as a description of Way of Earth at the very least. Crit reduction is at least minorly present in tank trees that increase defence, but i dont think by much, prot stance lowers damage, bear increases health as does Heart of the Wild (20%) and pally tanks actively enjoy being crit. Of course the ability to block and equip a shield is the main advantage of shaman/warrior/paladin tanks.
Prot Paladins dont have it. Warriors need to hit defensive caps to get it. Warlock tanks just insert a Rune and bam, good to go. As soon as I found out that Warlock tanks could still sac, I knew a nerf was coming. Its too good!
What do Protection Paladin not have? Both Protection Paladins and Warriors have talents for +10 defense skill, talents for blocking with shields, and talents for increases to armor.
