So remix granted me the tusks from Hellscream, so naturally like a crazy person, I am looking for the next whale to chase.
Was looking on wowhead and they are claiming the drop-rate is about 5%. Is this accurate?
After spending so many years trying to get the tusks, a 5% drop-rate feels almost like a gimme.
if you dont have a demon hunter i would not farm these items.

I got a MH warglaive on my first Illidan kill in 2008. I have killed Illidan likely over 100 more times and have yet to see the OH drop.
RNG is RNG even at 5%.
Could try for xavius shoulders or argus scythe. P sure those are really really rare.
I have a few now. Not my favorite, but I have grown to enjoy them enough that I figured I might as well go for these.
Took me a couple months to get both warglaives. Haven’t bothered to actually do the raid in tw though.
I got one on my rogue … and the other on my mage who can’t even use it. Haven’t been back in years to try to get the other on my rogue. I’m curious if I’ll finally get the achievement when the prepatch hits. Funny enough, I also got the legendary bow out of Sunwell … on my warrior. At least she can equip it.
Drop rates don’t really matter much. I have over well over 500 kills on Baron Rivendare in Stratholme going back to TBC. Probably closer to 700 or so since I got several toons to exalted with the Argent Dawn running Strat back in WotLK before Cata changed the dungeon. I’ve seen the sword so many times, but yet the mount still eludes me. Blizzard fooled me with that mount being a 1% drop. I’d swear it was still 0.1% at this point. Conversely, I got the mythic mount from Gul’dan in one kill earlier this year when that drop rate is now 1%. Considering there’s 2 warglaives, you could get the mainhand one many many times before you ever see the offhand drop.
I used to roll a character on various servers, and then of course a rogue. At one point during wod I decided to get warglaives of Azzinoth on all those rogues. So I ran them all through Black Temple every week.
One got both within 3 weeks. The longest time to get both was the one who got the second one during BfA, though I admit I had taken a break for some time.

there’s no big skip in BT. it’s a slog to get to illidan. every. time.
I’ve killed Illidan twice once we got to cataclysm and could solo BT.
First week I got MH.
Forgot to do it on 2nd week.
3rd week I got the OH.
I got them on my rogue, the left one dropped twice before the right finally dropped.
You can farm them on a rogue/warrior/DH but to transmog it on DH you have to do TW Black Temple. Which is very easy to do. It’s just the RNG of farming the glaives that can be discouraging.
That is true. It is an awfully long run.
I wonder if the placeholder trick would work. Never tried it anywhere but SoO.
