Why are they all so bad? Aside from the artifact models and legendaries, all the warglaive models are hot garbage. I wouldn’t ever consider using those transmog. Are we forever screwed? Will there never be a good model or even large warglaives anymore?
It’s a relatively new weapon type and has had not even a full patch since we lost our artifacts. Give it time.
Not only is it new, it was introduced in an expansion where Blizzard made only a handful of new non-artifact weapon models. Aside from the artifact xmogs, the only available glaive models are the trio available from the DH starting zone quests, and the ones added so far in BfA. And Blizzard never puts much effort into making good-looking weapons from quests and such, so the only real sources they put a decent amount of development time into are the mythics and raids, and there’s 1 glaive available from each of those (Warglaive of the Sand Queen from Tol Dagor and Glaive of the Keepers off Mother in Uldir).
It’s also worth noting that glaives aren’t something Blizzard is likely to put a ton of effort into. They are only usable by one of the twelve classes, so their presence on the loot table is somewhat problematic. We’re likely to see 1-2 per tier at the most. Blizzard has also moved over to thematic models based on the content rather than the class, which is why the Uldir glaive looks very Titan-esque.
This brings the conversation to what I’m mad about. Why aren’t 1H Swords and Axes on our loot tables? What the duck is that?
The Alliance PVP glaive was so close to being a good one. Wish I could remove the giant lion-guard. I also wish I could get one of the swords to match it with.
They are, at least in most content. I can’t speak to the PvP table, but I know all of the agility swords and axes from M+ and Uldir are definitely on our loot table. If the sword and axe from PvP are not there, that sounds like either a mistake, or because Blizzard for some reason thought it’d feel bad if you got a weapon from PvP and it wasn’t a glaive.
Then again, when you have items on the loot table that can only be used by a single class, and they aren’t optimally and nearly optimally itemized for that class, imo that reflects a hilariously screw-up on the part of the devs. I understand that they don’t want every item to be perfectly itemized, but that’s offset for most items by the fact that other classes and specs can use that item, and those classes/specs may and likely do have different stat priorities. But when the item in question (ranged weapons, agi daggers, glaives, agility 2h swords, for example) doesn’t have that option, not making it well-itemized for that class just makes it a complete waste of an item entirely.
Yeah, sorry, PVP. For PVE I am aware that there is just 0 agility swords and axes but if there WAS I’d get them. There’s like 4 daggers in Uldir and 0 axes.
Yeah, we have slim pickings. Right now I am rocking CTB and the Tfury toy thing. However I do actually like the Uldir glaives. Just need to find an appropriate mog for them.
I love my demon hunter, but this is one of my pet peeves. My issue is that there have been warglaives in the game art since vanilla. Both the 2 bladed style carried by Vol’jin and the few demon hunters present before BC went live (Wowhead identifies him as Loramus but that info at least might not be correct), and the tri-bladed weapons carried by Night Elf sentinels.
Even the guards in Silvermoon carry warglaives that aren’t available to demon hunters.
The alliance pvp glaives are heinous, and the horde pvp ones are gigantic (but it’s a nicer model than many of them). Personally I don’t mind the Uldir glaive model, but with the exception of the coral edged glaive all of the BFA glaive models so far are quite boring.
Ok, so according to the research I’ve just been doing the Alliance glaives from the Darkshore Warfront are tri-bladed nelf ones, which is very cool and I’m looking forward to getting my claws on a pair.
Honestly, it still looks almost as dangerous to the wielder as the Arathi glaive, but it’s thematically fitting, and also pretty nostalgic.
I agree. It’s disappointing not a SINGLE model was even remotely impressive.
Forget Warglaives. If I could just get those ridiculous weapons that Maiev Shadowsong has I’d be a happy camper.
