Stromgarde has been useless for a long while and now Darkshore is useless too.
This is the problem with BfA, Warfronts should be repeatable content that gives something (potentially) rewarding to players of all item levels.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought there was supposed to be four of them as well. When did it just become okay to say one thing and do another?
There’s something fundamentally wrong with what’s going on.
Yeah I know the expansion isn’t over yet… I wonder if this isn’t going to be a back burner project that may not ever be delivered though.
In the case of warfronts they’ve done nothing positive with all the development time that’s went into it so far and on top of that they’re making this content mostly irrelevant mid expansion with nothing else even on the horizon.
I simply don’t care about it anymore… cause there’s no reason to.
There have been several great ideas for BfA that have fallen flat with your customers upon actual implementation Blizz.
I got all my transmog out of them, there is an over-abundant source for gear this expansion, more than any previous ones. It’s so over-saturated, I can throw a rock in any random direction and it’ll either hit a Horde in the face or a new upgrade.
Heroic Arathi is available. That’s your “new warfront”, lazy or not.
As a tangent about that specifically – It sucks.
The Heroic version doesn’t even drop loot. You get a WQ worth of Azerite and nothing else. The only tangible reward is from the once-per-cycle quest for the 430. I know that was already how most people used Warfronts after Season 1, but leaning into that by design really sucks. They should have made it drop 400s or 415s of the elite appearance to give some minor reason to do Heroic more than once at least.
Additionally, the increased difficulty literally comes from the opposing leader attacking your base about 5 minutes in. That’s it. Literally everything but that is “hey it’s tuned for like 405 ilvl now because new season”. If you zerg rush the boss enough when it attacks and get it down before your boss dies, you win. Nothing after that is even remotely different from the Normal difficulty. It doesn’t even FEEL more difficult because allied NPCs are equally buffed. They could have buffed their health but not their damage so they’d rely on us to do things or something. But they didn’t, all they did was make siege engines more expensive?
The entire thing feels awfully close to “hey we retuned the old warfront for the current season and took away the queue” rather than being anything that requires any kind of real coordination. The fact that it drops the equivilent to what Normal Warfronts dropped before kinda backs that up, I think. Not that I’d want it to be rewarding Mythic raid quality junk, but still.
What makes it fun and enjoyable is actually working together and communicating with your group. Some people actually like to have a social aspect of an MMO instead of just mindlessly solo grinding and chasing gear all the time. I know, crazy concept.
I’d imagine that would be something that they would change moving forward because there aren’t that many people willing to do it just for the fun of it.
You can pretend that this community isn’t all about the loot and speeding through all content, but you’d be wrong. Healers getting kicked from IE’s is just one example of how toxic and go-go people really are. You think people want to run through it for nothing… nope.
None, I hope. Warfronts were a failure after they released them, nobody liked them and constantly suggested improvements and no improvements were ever made…
I mean, believe it or not…but adding a heroic difficulty to an already boring game mode…isn’t going to fix it. It’s just going to make it longer and more boring. I don’t think anyone suggested “Hey you know what would make this more fun? Making it last longer”
Implying there is in fact an issue with designing it in that way in the first place.
At the end of the day, RPGs tend to have some form of power progression at their core. In these types of games, the reward for your actions matters. We’re playing a time sink so people want to be efficient with that time.
Warfronts and Invasions would have better repeatably if the rewards scaled. At this point I don’t even do them for the medals. Eventually I’ll get enough from paragon chests to get the mount.
I’m well aware of how toxic and “go-go” most of today’s players are as it’s a major part of the reason why I’ve only played very casually since Cata. Hence why I said some people. While we’re not the majority, some do still actually play for the community aspect of the game and we’re mostly just killing time on retail until Classic goes live.
Warfronts will be discontinued as they have proven hated and unsuccessful by the masses. They are testing heroic WF to see how people react but honestly it’s not that fun either.
Masses means some people on the forums I guess lol, or a few wow addicted youtube streamers lol. And the warfront hate threads are made by the same 5, or 6 people that spam the lfr threads like usual. Warfronts will probably be discontinued, because there wont be much reason for them in the near future with the relaxing of tensions between the horde, and alliance. Not much need for a warfront when there is no full scale factional war happening. Will probably see more assaults, incursion type things which seem to be very popular per polygon, blizzard watch articles from months ago. Long story short. Just because a few vocal haters post on this forum does not mean the masses lol.
