Could go the pve route where you may not see an upgrade for a week or two. I’ll take this system
I’m glad you are happy with it, there are a great many people who are not. Because it is a lame system.
Even doing world quests when you are trying to gear up, you are, almost any day of the week, able to choose 3-4 different pieces of gear you want. If you are trying to gear out of dungeons, you have several to choose from, and several different pieces of gear to aim for. In pvp, you don’t get to choose, you simply fill in your conquest and wait for father Ion to hand you the next piece of gear in line.

You could do rated pvp and get better upgrades, RNG gear ofc but that’s no different than pve
I am talking about initially gearing, doing lower level content. You have multiple ways to get the piece you are after in pve, in pvp you have no choice of which piece of gear you get. It is a lame system.
You know the game SWG? That game was wonderful, until they decided to make an expansion that said you have to do A, B, C, D in order, or you don’t go anywhere. You know what people did? They said " I will take X, as in the second letter of the word EXIT" They bailed, in droves. People do not like being shoved down chutes, not in a game, not where they are paying a price to enjoy something.

The pieces you go for in pve don’t always drop, and if it does, you may not win the roll for it. If you want to go with that system, more power to you. Me? I like a system where in the end, I will gear just as much as if we had a vendor. Gear falls from the sky now, it’s not even an issue like it was in other expansions
There is no more rolling in dungeons…
World and emissary quests, when gear is involved, it is not a drop, it is a guaranteed piece for completing the quest.
Except, as it currently stands, you don’t.
You have to rely on RNG for Trinkets Rings Offhands and Capes.

We were able to buy all those pieces off of vendors before Legion , weren’t we? I can hardly remember.

There were some trinkets that were unique to Ashran I think. Like the “only +mastery” trinket, or something like that.

And I haven’t. Everything in those slots is a PvE piece or a lucky Aspirant Titanforge. I have a 370 one hand, but I don’t have an offhand to go with it.
Well, we have a chance for it, but someone could end the season doing nothing but PvP and be missing gear.

And still, BGs are in a far better place than when we had a vendor. Probably because less people who are only there “to cap points” are playing. IMO anyway

Lol I do rated PvP and have had 2 upgrades in 8 weeks of play. This system does not work.
This isn’t because of vendors. We’ve talked about this. Scaling/templates made your bgs more even. Vendors is needed for rated play and wouldn’t affect your bgs.
Yea but the differences were soooo minor that I never even tried for them and got as high rated in that expansion as any other (on multiple alts).
With pve gear priority as is I noticed significant improvements in my rating the second I did pve and got my right trait and stats. Like 100-250 points per trait I got. It’s actually crazy. My alts feel pretty useless in rated (partially skill admittedly) but also traits/stats/ilvl all add together to make a decent deficit.
God I miss wod gearing.
