Finally getting around to leveling my Mag’har hunter, and I was opening up Warfang Hold in the Horde War campaign and noticed something for the first time.
The Kul-Tirans who attacked Warfang before the PC gets there used tentacly Old Godie powers to grab the Horde ships, and the footmen use an ability called “Stormsong’s Decree”. Both of these things imply that these Kul Tiran forces are affiliated with Lord Stormsong rather than with the Storm’s Wake. However, the units are all clearly labelled as the Storm’s Wake units.
Just an oversight by Blizzard? Or were some Storm’s Wake units dabbling in Old God stuff? Or something else?

I thought the oversight was with Rexxar as Sylvanas slew far more than Jania and he was annoyed by our conflicts.
edit: Actually, there’s likely more they’ve missed on the horde side.
The Rexxar stuff is definitely still weird. That one I assume is a hold over from a different version of the xpac where Jaina did something more deadly to the Horde.

From what I understand about unlocking the bases on the enemy islands/subcontinent, that happens at roughly the same time as the other faction’s PC is moving through those zones and fixing them up. So, when the Horde is securing Warfang Hold, they’re fighting the same Stormsong corrupted Tide Sage types as the Alliance PC is.

It’s possible it’s Stormsong’s crew and the Horde only thought they were Alliance-allied.
It’s also possible this is a weird error caused by Stormsong Valley’s major rewrites that we know happened, and/or by the Alliance and Horde quest teams not communicating properly with each other.
I sincerely doubt the answer is that the Storm’s Wake used Old God powers considering how much they denounce the ones doing that.

Stormsong is the Gorgrond of this expansion, having gone through a rewrite that didn’t really turn out better than the original.
The fact that they are called Storm’s Wake really makes me think they are supposed to be from the militia, and not members of House Stormsong. I’m more liable to think ability names are a mistake and not the name.
Tentacles is weird though.
I wondered if this was before Lord Stormsong’s betrayal was revealed and so the two sides were still one, but I’m pretty sure Storm’s Wake was founded in response of Lord Stormsong’s betrayal.

Alliance Dev Team: Writes the Horde as objectively evil.
Horde Dev Team: Tries to do the same with the Alliance.
Alliance Dev Team: “No, no, no. The Alliance cannot be evil. Remove everything. Jaina’s a HEROINE.”
