I think warden would work better as a dual-class specialization
hunter: spirit warrior or warden
rogue: warden or blademaster
warrior: blademaster or gladiator
death knight: gladiator or necromancer
warlock: necromancer or summoner
mage: summoner or primal herald
shaman: primal herald or witch doctor
priest: witch doctor or night warrior
druid: night warrior or guardian
evoker: guardian or ascended
demon hunter: ascended or shascarred
monk: shascarred or spirit warrior
descriptions:
spirit warrior: enhance your abilities with animal spirit stances, depending on your stance your abilities will gain different benefits both offensive and defensive. inspired by the different bosses in zul’gurub and zul’drak as well as the original hunter abilities ‘aspect of the hawk’ and ‘aspect of the monkey’
warden: throw deadly chakrams that cause heavy bleeding damage, perform deadly blink strikes. inspired by Maiev Shadowsong
blademaster: gain powerful single target strikes with a spiritual sword. move quickly and create mirror images that mirror your attacks and enemy attacks may be redirected to them. enhance your ability to dodge and be evasive. inspired by the blademasters from warcraft 3
gladiator: wield a 2 handed weapon in one hand, and a shield, or tank while dual wielding two 2-handed weapons in each hand. create an arena that pulls in all nearby enemies and won’t let them escape or target anything outside the ring. inspire allies with thunderous war cries. inspired by the ‘gladiator stance’ from classic wow
necromancer: a ravenous horde of the undead obeys your commands. many abilities will summon skeletons and ghouls while others may call more powerful undead to your command. they will automatically resummon after a while if killed. inspired by the original death knights in warcraft II created by Gul’dan (ie. Teron Gorefiend)
summoner: summon all manner of entities to aid you in battle. inspired by the ‘portal’ mage from hearthstone
primal herald: tap into the primal power of the elemental planes, summon tsunami waves, volcanoes, and tornadoes. inspired by the elemental lords of azeroth, and the druid from diablo 2
witch doctor: your mixtures can augment the power of your allies healing abilities and your ability to cast wards will provide allies with unique defensive capabilities. you can affix a voodoo doll to a target and a portion of any damage your allies deal to the doll will be applied to the target. inspired by the witch doctor unit from warcraft 3
night warrior: become the night warrior, and gain access to powers granted from the dark side of the moons. while in the night warrior form, your damage will slowly increase, but you will start to take increasing damage as well. your damage will also heal you while in this form. inspired from the lore from Tyrande Whisperwind from Dragonflight
guardian: command phenomenal cosmic power to protect your allies (ie. a tank that casts spells). inspired by Medivh, the last guardian and the black dragonflight guardian aspect Neltharion (deathwing).
ascended: you have had your potential unlocked by the Naaru. tattoos that emit holy light adorn your skin or scales. your abilities have taken on a more radiant appearance. a portion of your damage will now heal allies.
shascarred: the dark corrupting powers of the sha have scarred your soul. channel your emotions to inflict fear, despair and dread in your enemies. balance your emotions by channelling hope and inspiration to your allies. Harness the raw, untamed rage of the Sha to reflect damage and unleash echoes of your other abilities for 15 seconds
I want the next class to be a tank/healer hybrid. I could see them adding another gimped healer that has a ranged limitation but does like zillions of damage and zillions of healing.
Wardens, as a function of the title, are a Night Elf creation - I don’t think they’ll exist within Blood Elf Society. While the job may exist, it’ll be referred to by something else - I forsee the much-desired Spellbreakers being the BElf/Nightfallen variant. Given their lore as twisting magic to use against its caster and their ubiquity in the horde, it makes sense.
Wardens for the Alliance, Spellbreakers for the Horde - both built off the ‘Warden’ class mechanically.
While not a fan of yet another Night Elf lore to be spread (have done with Worgen, Nightborne, etc), I think we are at a point of everyone everything that it would not be a surprise. And that would also mix the factions more with more of their races belonging to a separate entity. So not sure if it would happen in Midnight, but would not be an impossible idea.
If all the elven tribes united to defend the Sunwell, they could combine their forces to create a specialized squadron against void magic. By using the combat abilities of wardens and spellbreakers, they could develop a unique Plate or Mail class with both tank and DPS specs. This class could be taught to any race (except mechagnomes), similar to how monks were introduced.
I know I might just be fantasizing too much, but it would be really cool!
