I know its week 1 and its heroic, but the statistic from warcraftlogs isn’t looking good for Affliction.
Affliction warlock needs help, and maybe Frost DK.
Seriously, buffing [Unstable Affliction] isn’t going to break the game, and it’s not going to overtake Blizzard’s favourite specs in either Single-target, Spread-cleave or Mass AoE.

If you see anyone playing hellcaller affliction in raid, there is a major bug that makes it so blackened soul continually stacks up permanently. It’s boosting blackened soul damage by like 50%+
What’s even funnier is that affliction is still losing to destruction in split cleave with this huge throughput boosting bug.
Affliction is legit so far behind in real damage metrics compared to other specs, that they would need like a 15% aura buff to put them slightly above average. It’s also only slightly above mid pack in split cleave (wtf) without bugged blackened soul.
It’s embarassing at this point.
Yeah, the only fix coming our way is when “warlocks are dealing too much damage” (TWW S3 Week 1), it seems.
If they honestly fix this bug, which i’m okay with, I have a gut feeling that Affliction are just being left to dumpster while we have to switch between Demo and Destro every other patch.
Affliction today just are not rewarded for their time investment maintaining dots when fights are designed priortizing bursting stuff NOW (in Astalor Bloodsworn’s voice).
I always wonder if there is a different damage meter that exist within Blizzard that shows a different picture of how Affliction warlock is doing, or they just don’t care as long as their favourite specs are doing well enough to sustain the game.
Events like “Breaking the meta” did even help revive this undertunned spec for season after season.
I hope developer will honestly tell us if the spec is in the right place right now, so I can move on from the spec and find the right time investment.
They’d rather you didn’t play Affliction.
