Warcraft Survival

This was mentioned a few times since 2018. Why is blizzard not listening? I bring this up because recently I played Valheim and I thought to myself “Why does this feel like wow?”. Come on blizzard step it up. You should create a warcraft open world survival. I think it’s time you stepped up into the genre. I heard Epic is entering the MMORPG world. You are losing your title as king. It’s time you did what everyone else is doing but better. I would love to see a warcraft theme survival game.

no king rules forever :sob:

i’d love a survival game but i think a starcraft one would be cooler! Could it work with zergs you think?

It’s quite a mixture of WoW, 7 days to die and Skyrim or perhaps modern version of Skyrim.

just another meme fotm game genre.

valheim will eventually suffer the same fate of all the other plethora of survival games over the years, the hypetrain will leave the station and take everyone with it and be forgotten to the annals of history, just like the survival games from up to 10+ years ago that i can’t even remember the names of most.

‘I don’t like it therefore it will fail’.

Go to sleep.

who said i dont like it? In fact I like survival games (I use to no life Rust and Dying Light).

i am just referencing history… things you can look up yourself for evidence… just look up all the various “survival” games released over the past 10 years and notice how they were all popular initially upon release, but then quickly fizzled out after a couple years, replaced by the newest flavor of the month survival game.

the two I listed that I use to play are good examples of games that were heavily hyped and insanely popular upon release that fizzled over time and are just shadows of their former selves and/or were replaced by another fotm survival game…

Survival games just aren’t the type of game genre that provides “longevity” unlike a team shooter, moba, mmo, rpg, etc.

And wow developers never thought it would be successful when it first launched yet here we are…

While I’m sure they were nervous breaking into a niche genre in a big way, I doubt they were gambling on WoW like a bunch of drunken sailors at cards.

i view valheim no different than games like Dying Light or Rust. those were both insanely popular for their initial first couple years respectively, until upended or replaced by the next hype-trained fotm survival game.

Yeah okay.

Apples and oranges, none of them are mmo’s.

You’re right on the folder with this. And let’s go even further back and not forget ARK or Conan either. Survival games tend to only last so long before falling off the radar.

And that’s not to say that Valheim isn’t a good game. It looks beautiful and seems rather unique. But if we’re honest another survival game will come along this year and replace it. That’s how that particular genre works. A dog eat dog world.

Rust is. Rust allows up to 400 players per world.

valheim on the otherhand, only up to 10 players.

100% and yeah as i mentioned before about how i couldn’t remember the names of survival games from 5 years ago, lol i totally forgot about ARK and conan exiles…

yeah, unfortunately some of the people in this topic clearly don’t seem to have seriously played any survival games over any amount of time to have experienced and seen time and time again how survival games are hyped (usually because popular streamers are playing it and no doubt the top ones payed to play it), played, then forgotten and replaced by the new kid on the block survival game.

Valheim brings nothing new to the table that games that preceded it had that are now forgotten… in fact it brings less tbh, especially with it’s extremely limited servers that only support up to 10 players, unlike games like rust which you can have servers with hundreds of other players or Ark with 100+.

I do agree. Valheim is short lived. One day of playing was exciting. Other than that, it doesn’t bring anything to the table as other games have already done. This is why I have faith in Blizzard to create a survival game based on the Warcraft theme and story. I’m a huge blizzard fan. They hold back so much and invest in WoW which has declined.

I hope they didn’t copy Valheim tho.

Last time Buzzard tries to copy Hades/Roguelike we got Torghast.

Imagine landing in a world similar to Valheim.
You get a hold of the game, learning how to craft some basic things. A wooden shield, a stone axe… Life is good.

You find a beautiful looking area with boars and decide “Wow, this is gorgeous. I’m going to build my base here!”
You build for a day, collecting your lumber, and put together the beginnings of a new home.

Then, a large yellow message pops up on your screen.

“You hear a mrglmgrgrglllrglrl coming from the river…”

You mean torghast isn’t an attempt at surviving for players LOL, i mean before they nerfed it.

Seriously, if you guys like that game, you should look at Ashes of Creation.

That would be epic!
