Warcraft Survival game concept

Okay, it’s a bit big, and I’ve grown to love survival games. Blizzard could make a totally unique survival game, and it would blow even the current king of survival games out of the water!

Lorewise: The game could cover a timeline explained by Chromie where Azeroth or other worlds suffered the explosive wars that led to everyone fighting for themselves. The fallout is that the vast majority of Azeroth, Draenor, Outland, and other worlds declined, and the few dragons who remained for maintaining the balance of Azeroth have given small help if any in the form of guidance. Even brazen dragons like Wrathion are brought to timidity before mortals, now fearful for his own life after having been scarred by the recent wars, and is now tended to by his now mentor Ebonhorn.

YOU as the player must survive, and restore these worlds to rebuild in a timeline that reached a worst possible outcome, in which the Light, Void, Fel, and Death itself have shattered into the mists of the nether! Will you become a hero? A king? A warlord? A tyrant? Will YOU be the salvation of the worlds you once quested in? Or will you be it’s ultimate demise?

Titles in mind…

“Warcraft Retribution”
“Warcraft Survival”
“Warcraft End Times”
“Warcraft Salvation/Destruction”

Unique mechanics unseen in other survival games we know Blizzard would employ:

RACES! ALL of the races we see in WoW become available in this Warcraft themed survival game! Do you stick with your typical jack of all trades human? The resilient Orc? The Diminutive Gnome? the Mighty Tauren? Perhaps a hardy Dwarf? Or the spiritual Troll? ALL of the races in WoW become available to you with racial abilities!

Controller support! As this will be more action oriented! The player will need to be able to play either keyboard and mouse, or fully customizable controls for a controller! A simple intuitive style that you can pick up either way and enjoy!

Dragons: You favor a dragon and offer it’s flight your service in reverence, a mere pittance of gratitude for your very survival! Each of the dragonflights exist to grant you certain boons!

Recruit fellow survivors, be it players, or NPCs you recruit by either negotiation, or enslavement!

Tame wild beasts to ease your survival! Kodos, Sabers, Hawkstriders, Raptors, and MORE! Beasts of burden, or reliable hunting companions! EVEN MURLOCS can be tamed to serve your needs!

Open classless system with variety of spells and abilities(with some limitations). If you ever wanted to be a warrior with stealth and able to punch a murloc to death 50 times in the span of a second, go for it!

Deep crafting system encompassing all professions! Craft tiers of armor and weapons themed from each race and world! Build structures like keeps, spires, and fortresses themed after each race!

Modular construction, where you craft foundations, walls, ceilings, roofs, pillars, etc!

Excavatable caverns you can pick into for the search for resources! Will you find gold? Iron? Perhaps precious gems? Or perhaps something sinister lurks in the deep places of the earth?

PVP and PVE activities: You can work together and form clans, and go to war with others in PVP!

Can be played Offline! Don’t want to deal with hostile players who keep stabbing you in the back? Or just tired of dealing with people online? Play offline! Survive and build your own in a sandbox-like adventure!

Private dedicated servers for select groups: Feel like you’re not getting enough bang for your WoW bucks? Contact Blizzard to get your own server you can run with your own rules! Adjust taming rates, food consumption, water, even extremes of climates!

The whole thing plays into a timeline where Azeroth and other worlds have succumb to catastrophic wars which have led to almost total extinction!

I don’t know… Maybe if they used the mob races as the ones you can play as. I think Blackthorn may be a better IP for Blizzard to make into a survival game honestly.

just play minecraft

NOOO I was watching the trailer! How could you delete it!

D:

The general concept in my head is pretty much a hybrid between Ark Survival Evolved and Conan Exiles. Each weapon type has it’s own fighting style based on the race’s use of each weapon.

Enslaving NPCs in a way similar to breaking thralls in Conan Exiles, or recruiting by negotiating their assistance into your clan.

Taming beasts similar to Ark for certain beasts, like horses you gotta mount up and hang on.

Also, Minecraft is not even close to as action-packed as what I have in mind!

It would be so much more fun to play a survival game with multiple races, considering racials would matter!

Worlds to travel to include Azeroth, including Eastern Kingdoms, and Kalimdor, Northrend, Broken Isles, etc as places to go. Outland, with it being shattered and almost completely devoid of ocean. Primitive Draenor, with it’s vast oceans, and the possibility to recruit ogres! Even Argus, where you can recruit or enslave demons, Eredar, and more!

Each world having it’s own environments.

Suggested racials including…

Orcs deliver more damage with axes, and can gather more with axes used, like chopping down trees.

Tauren able to carry more than other races, less concern of being weighed down.

Dwarf, a bonus to how much stone and metal they can gather from mining nodes.

Gnomes have an increase of research points, so they can learn more.

Humans having a masonry bonus, so structures cost fewer resources than other races.

Goblins, can produce more gunpowder and explosive weapons do 50% more damage.

Night Elves able to use their druidic roots to convince actual wild animals to join them as tames.

Blood Elves have the ability to create a sunwell which can hasten regeneration for self, allies, minions, and beasts.

Zandalari having an ability to tame dinosaurs more easily, even using their own druidic roots to negotiate dinosaurs into servitude.

Kul’tirans, lose no stamina from swimming.

Forsaken, can eat raw meat and toxins to regenerate health(Even feces can be eaten and a Forsaken will regen health!).

Draenei, can cast a holy healing ability to heal over a period of time.

Void Elves, can summon a void tendril to root a target in place for a moment.

Darkspear Trolls, regeneration bonus, able to attack more frequently with melee weapons.

Just some suggested ideas from my Discord.

People have grown sick of survival games where you are ALWAYS stuck playing as a human, and no variety aside from gender and skin color. A Warcraft themed survival game would be too awesome to resist! The game hits ALL of the chords! You have a diverse assortment of races, multiple worlds to survive in, Warcraft could be given a survival game in a separate timeline, and survival game junkies would see the creativity, and then lap it up like crazy! It would easily topple Ark from it’s spot as king of survival games!

I totally forgot about that one.

Also, you’re not wrong; that WOULD be the better franchise.

I don’t even have to read this to know I would play the heck out of it tbh

Survival games are awful…I would never play it. I’d rather see the time and money be spent on making sure the next expansion is fantastic.

Though I don’t think WoW needs to become a survival game, I think there is a lot Blizzard could learn from them.

What’s a “survival game”?

It would be a separate game, and thus a separate development team

True enough but that is still money and manpower that could have been used on wow. :man_shrugging:

Just a personal opinion though.

I would love to see them make another style of game with the Warcraft franchise. Considering it went from moba to MMORPG It’d be really cool. Unfortunately they use the current games as a way to tell the story of Warcraft, so if they made another game WoW wouldn’t progress.

In short WoW has to pretty much be dead before it’ll happen, in my opinion. Unless they do a spin off somehow.

It is a spinoff

Seems like it would be a popular console or mobile game.

This would be amazing! I looooooove survival games! A wow based game like a cross between rust and ark in the wow universe would make me jump up and down like a little kid at Christmas.

I LOVE THIS IDEA

The survival genre is a bit unique in that it uses some roleplay mechanics like stat adjustments and experience, but you start with literally nothing(Except underwear in most cases… Conan Exiles has the option to not include underwear and walks the line of M and Ao with gender-based sliders).

In a survival game, you start with absolutely nothing as a newly spawned character! You start off by foraging for food such as harvesting berries from bushes, gathering plant fibers which you can use to craft simple clothes, and basic tools. You struggle against the environment to survive, crafting better tools and armor as you progress to get the best gear, and build your own fortress base to protect yourself from attacks by the environment itself.

It’s become a common thing in newer Survival games to include epic boss fights, like the guardians in Ark such as the Brood mother, Megapithicus, Dragon, Overseer, Manticore, Rockwell, and the titans. In Conan Exiles the boss fights are in dungeons that are instanced with the overworld.

Common mechanics in survival games include learning the necessary recipes, blueprints, or other knowledge for things like crafting armor, weapons, structures, defenses, etc. It lets you be more creative with construction of your base, from a simple thatch shack, to a wooden lodge, even a massive stone keep, to even a large industrial style prison made of metal! You could be creative and build things like Viking longhouses, mideival style fortresses or castles, ski lodges, and more!

Blizzard has the franchises to make a Warcraft themed survival game, as there is a lot of diversity in the weapons and armor you can craft. Apply resistances to weather and temperature with certain armors, and give each race a natural temperature resistance. It would be one hell of a spinoff game, and expansions would be a slow pace at the least, which gives players lot of time to hone experience not just in the game’s mechanics, but also in the elements of PVP, PVE, and allow for lots of player interaction!

I would imagine if Blizzard added bosses to a Warcraft themed survival game, there would be either revived bosses from the Warcraft timeline, to Infinite flight dragons, to Old Gods.

I think Blizzard could practically print money if they were to make a Warcraft themed survival game. Each playable race would have it’s own racials with a genuine impact on survival! Racials meaning something more than just a minor tactical bonus!

Imagine taming your saber mount through a druidic spell as a Night Elf! Or taming a mighty Brutosaur as a Zandalari Troll through Dinomancy!

Goblins able to build weapons without spending points, while gnomes would learn how to build structures like stagnant machines and mechanical tools without spending points.

Ogres able to carry resources without losing run speed and fight with the sheer brute strength they’re known for!

Vrykul able to build reinforced longboats that take less damage and carry more!

Humans spending fewer resources on masonry, and Orcs able to craft weapons with fewer materials used.

No factions existing, so you could make a clan with a mix of races from both factions we know of in WoW! You could even make your own engineering cartel of Goblins and Gnomes and establish your own order of things! Print your own coinage and pay off NPC bandit raids to target random players and boost your own modified economy by making mobs have money on them for looting.

One thing that might frighten people is the possibility of turning a dead foe into just more meat for eating! Like… If I play as a blood elf and kill a gnome, I could get raw meat from the gnome, or if I happen upon a tauren who died from fall damage, I could chop up the body and walk away with raw meat… That sort of cannibalism would probably terrify someone…
