Warcraft Series: Would you rather

Animated, but with a visual style much closer to Legend of Vox Machina than Arcane. And I have said before, I want Kristen Schaal to do the voice of Onyxia. It would be perfect.

If they were to go with animation, I’d love for them to do it Castlevania style – personally :person_shrugging:

However, so long as the quality is good and the storytelling is done right with being shown justice to the lore & depiction of characters that people love — I’d be fairly happy either way

Animated series using the same art style from their Harbingers series.

Interesting that there’s so many that would :open_mouth:
I quite enjoyed them myself, but I was under the impression they had a lot of haters

Would love if Blizzard did a pol towards asking the masses what kind of animation they’d prefer for a ‘Warcraft’ series :yum:

Arthas story told via a TV series.

Yes, but what kind of TV series?

  • Would you like it live-action like Game of Thrones / Vikings / The Witcher / The Sandman, etc

or

  • To have it as an animation TV series, such as Arcane / Castlevania / The Legend of Vox Machina / Invincible / Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, etc

HOW – would you like the ‘Warcraft’ series to be established?

Live action with animation capture and CGI. Actually a new option is possible which would be AI with CGI but I believe that was a big issue in the recent writers and actors strike.

Call me crazy, but I want some relatively low budget live action jank.
Something like the 1982 Conan the Barbarian, a character story, narrow focus with a decent bit more show than tell. Keep the setting consistent as can be, but don’t dive too deep into it; let shine just what matters to the narrative while the rest serves as decadent dress.

Stories about vengeance would be my preference, something that doesn’t demonize it but embraces it. Eye for an eye, maybe sprinkle in a bit of Azerothian religion – Light, Shadow, ancestor spirits – but in a limited capacity beyond the walls of such institutions where their practice would be common.

Whatever it entails I’d hope it comes with some nice wide shots of lands I’ll only ever be able to visit through this damn screen. Who doesn’t love a good vista?

Animated show.

Animated show without an anime art style.

Crackin’ Post there Gromit!

I’d rather they just didn’t bother.

It’d be terrible, they wouldn’t respect the source material without twisting it out of comprehension.

Just look at Halo or the Witcher if you think I’m wrong.

The Arthas story could offer that with ease, given you got the characters like:

  • Uther Lightbringer
  • Sylvanas Windrunner
  • along with the denizens of Lordaeron who were slain, arisen & enslaved → Then freed from his grasp.
  • and Kael’Thas (with his eventual hatred towards Kel’Thuzad)

along with more …

 They could probably do two anime stories, where they get some DnD-like characters of a few classes upon both Alliance & the Horde and have them fulfill vengeance / justice / etc stories on behalf of main characters / various factions too, with their own backstories to why they desired to help (Such as it being personal to them as well).

Those two options don’t matter to me. A show that’s made well (writing, acting, editing, etc. ) is all that matters.

I’d prefer to see animation, perhaps in a anthology format with a short series of episodes for each story. I’d love to see an adaptation of the Ashbringer comic; it’s already very over-the-top in its action, and I think it would translate well to animation. Plus, animation would allow for game voice actors to reprise characters if desired, and I would love to hear Taliesin Jaffe attempt squeaky teenager Darion.

WoWs style is already toony. A cartoon would look better than live action.

Touché :beers:

Would rather have a low budget Machinima series using the characters we already recognize, or maybe something like the cinematics. A 30 minute show, 12 episodes, every season, that feels something like this made by Blizz themselves:

Definitely a high budget animation series similar to Arcane. WoW could easily make it work because the style is already there. As for story / narratives, basically I’d like them to start from the beginning. Maybe have varying perspectives, such as showing us the adventures of Lothar, Medivh, and Llane as young men fighting the trolls, adventuring in Stranglethorn etc. Quel’thalas and Kael’thas easter egg. The dwarves etc.

Then from the opposite perspective we can see young Durotan and Orgrim adventuring through Nagrand. Meeting Restalan and the glory of Shattrath after the Draenei arrive. Everything culminating to the demon blood and Kil’jaedan’s manipulation.

Season 1 would be peaceful story of humble beginnings for the races we came to know and love. Everything of course would ultimately culminate to the Fall of Shattrath and the Dark Portal. Azeroth side, Medivh’s illness and possession, the fracturing of the friendship trio etc. Where we eventually land in Warcraft 1 beginning in Season 2.

That’s a tough one. Animation has a greater chance it could be pulled off, because live action is super difficult to do well without that sense of “this is super cheesy.” Wow’s writing and story line are not very good and would not be able to overcome the cheese test.
