Didn’t they lose money on the movie?
Pretty sure it did really well in China. That’s just what I’ve heard, I don’t have numbers to back it up
Nah, it just made more money in China and apparently Chinese money doesn’t count.
Despite the fact that later China would later pass on Ghostbusters 2016 and that box office now counts as to how the film failed?
If that was the female ghost busters it failed for other reasons. As a male watcher I didn’t enjoy their jokes very much.
Not the point. The box office can’t just count and not count. It isn’t Schrodinger’s Theater Ticket sales.
Hbo. More true to form… Netflix ruin everything.
You just want to see Varian go full pickle.
It might not be about it counting or not counting, but rather if China can bring them over the edge of failure or not. If a movie does bad enough everywhere else isn’t it possible that China isn’t capable of carrying the cost no matter how popular it was there? Likewise isn’t it possible that the movie did just well enough that China would have pushed the sales into a profit but the movie was declined there?
I want to see orcs barbarity on full display and you get that with hbo. You qlso get skimpy armor. And men arent gunshy.
Netflix stuff shows plenty of pickle.
People just got burnt out on Game of Thrones.
Wheel of Time already in works.
I guess they could do an animated. I just don’t expect a live action. Its sorta like when an EverQuest movie was rumored. Its just too late. You want to build on the popularity, not put one out 15 years into the game’s life.
Even with the China distribution, of which the movie studio sees a very small percentage, it didn’t even break even according to Hollywood’s formulas.
A movie generally needs to make double its production budget domestically in order to break even. The reason is that the production budget doesn’t including marketing and distribution, which is almost the same as the production budget. Then the studio that made the movie only gets 50% of ticket sales on average. For foreign distribution, the studio’s share of ticket sales can be as low as 5%.
Warcraft had a budget of $160 Million (overly ambitious) and only grossed $47 Million domestically. If the studio received 50% of that, they made $23.5 Million. The majority of its $386 million gross from foreign tickets was in China. Of which a small studio like Legendary received 5%. So that is another $19.3 Million. So after spending $160 Million, the studio received around $43.8 Million or just over a quarter of its production budget. The movie would be seen as a financial failure.
And Orc pickle.
Though, given their size and physiology, it’d be more of a cucumber…
no, thanks. Everything netflix make is garbage.
Wasn’t Thrall the pickle?
I’ll take either. Most stuff that gets made in to movies and sucks is because the didnt have time to do it right. WoW would be a great seiries. Give it time to tell the story. Don’t just cram it in to 3 hours. Give it 10 to 15 hours and you’ll get a more complete story. Do like a season per xpac.
I’m going to have to stop you right there.
I think they could easily adapt Arthas story into a series
None of my friends liked the female Ghostbusters, which made me a little sad. I liked it plenty, and I’m a male viewer.
