Im still of the opinion that the initial story had Anduin leading the Alliance in an invasion of Lordearon before the horde attacks the Night elves. BFA would have had the Alliance going a lot more aggressive and escalating the conflict.

I agree with this, although obviously we have no way of knowing for sure. There was an interesting thread a while back speculating on what the original plans might have been:
