People are being turned off from the game because of the player base. I can’t even call these people what they are because for some reason talking about them breaks the ToS.
Meanwhile, they are free to spew racist, homophobic, bigoted sewage into all chat channels without repercussion.
I have been sharing screenshots with friends who have shared an interest in WoW: Forever, and reminding them how the game requires grouping and socializing with people that are proud to spew slurs and other racist nonsense.
One of the milder examples of this is someone in gen chat creating a lovely call and response, “Press 1 if racist” followed by several people responding with “1.”
Others include misspelling racial and homophobic slurs in order to get around what are very weak filters.
More yet are just filling the chat with disgusting rhetoric just to offend. Which oddly, isn’t as offensive as it is just purely irritating to see every single time I log in.
Others yet do the same misspelling technique to use sexually explicit acts in a game rated for teen, and regardless of the rating is played by even younger children. Grown 45 year old men with sexually explicit names to play with potential children, it’s actually disgusting.
The report feature literally tells you it’s broken after going through all the steps to report someone, please do not say “report them” as if that’s a valid response. Pretending that you’re “helping with the filters” is a result of either being stupid, or just another way to troll..
That being said, it is not a matter of “report them” and move on anymore. Forever is designed to force players to work together. I simply wont be playing this game because I simply refuse to socialize with refuse.
If it was a once-in-a-while rare encounter where reporting and moving on was an option, this would be different. It isn’t. If it was just unoriginal rage baiters that were easily ignore, it would be different. It isn’t.
Blizzard refusing to address this for the $$$ is simply unacceptable.
It sucks that such a good game is ruined by it’s player base. Grown men that should be ashamed of themselves for this behavior instead looking to unwashed streamers as their idols.
It also sucks, because Forever has broken the spell retail had on me. I can’t go back to it, so this is the end of Wow for me.
I’m sure I’m in the minority, and I know for a fact I will be trolled for this post. This is feedback for the WoW team, and nothing else.
TLDR; WoW: Forever requires social interaction, a massive portion of the player base are unsocialized, unwashed, rage baiters and racists. Instead of forced social interactions with these people, many will chose not to play at all.
Edit: I welcome the inevitable responses that only serve to prove me right.

Edit: Since I posted my OP here, Blizzard has taken steps in the correct direction, so there is hope there will be accountability for behavior and people will start being civil again.
