Sometimes less is more. It is about the intricate interplay between abilities and every spell really having some oomph that creates engaging gameplay, instead of gazillion buttons and 15+ rotational abilities and mini-cooldowns, many of which should really be combined tbh.
You keep repeating that, and I don’t buy it. I feel as if over 20 years the game has been dumbed down enough.
See and this too is also very contextual. If youre a dps and your tank does big pulls and you have cds for it youre gonna do a whole lot more damage and that says nothing of individual skill but rather coordination
What has gotten dumbed down? This doesn’t even make any sense
Keeping up buffs for an extended duration is tedious, it’s actually not very hard to understand if you’re trying to have a conversation like a real person
Cooldowns for most classes are very short now, it’s nearly always better to fire them off cd (obviously use a bit of common sense) in a pug setting
This is also the main reason big bursty long cd specs like fire mage suck in pugs
I dont want the game to be dumbed down, but there is a huge difference between complexity and convolution/bloat.
Then play one of those specs.
This isn’t a thing. Let’s stop spreading this misinformation. Most specs are 4-5 button rotations with only a couple few short cooldowns and one or two AoEs. If there are a few more buttons, it’s either situational cooldowns or defensives.
If people can’t manage two bars not even fully filled, then that’s an issue they can solve themselves by taking different talents.
A great 6-post thread is on the 11.1.7 PTR forums:
Not a great post. More bs. My points still stand.
It has relevance. You’re just choosing not to see it.
you’re not doing enough speed, bro.
When gameplay reaches the point of “I need add-ons to help process what’s going on.” for the average player?
Then it’s time to look at the systematic snd structural issues with the game. Something is wrong with the fundamentals of the game’s design.
And it must be stressed that this is NOT the top end of players, just the average. And people love to say the “average player” is quite bad around here.
It’s arguable that there’s been some improvements with better communicated mechanics, but that’s only part of the solution.
You havent noticed base line spells from vanilla have disappeared on many classes as an example?
Spells left, spells got added
Would you say a vanilla spec is more complex?
Woooo, time to play some WoW!
snorts a line of adderall
LET’S GOOOOOO!!!
I don’t see this as a problem because WoW scales really well. If you are a great player, it gives you a challenge. If you are a total noob, you can stick to the quests, low tier Delves, follower dungeons and story mode raids. If you are in the middle there is a wide variety of different things you can do.
Simply adjust to the content which matches your talent and everything works out fine.
exactly.
Im not allowing my aging body and mind to bring me in here and beg blizzard to ruin the game for everyone else.
There is no bloat as far as our spells and abilities…theyre fine. If anything a spec or two needs more to do.
As far as mechanics go, use an addon until blizzard removes the need for weakauras at some point by simplifying that aspect of the game.
I really hate that word, but when youre right, youre right.
Ah yes, the magical “must parse this high to have an opinion!”
The ground definitely has gone full busy’ness.
I don’t think this applies generally as much as it applies on a spec-by-spec basis.
