Before Warbands, you were able to earn season 2 and 3 marks of mastery by running the raids from those seasons on heroic and completing them (that is aberrus and amirdassil). This gave your character a mark of mastery from season 2 if you ran aberrus or season 3 if you ran amirdassil. You could do this in season 4 as I did on multiple characters and still get the season mastery achievements on new characters.
This was originally per character so you could make multiple priests or warlocks etc and fill out a transmog set by getting the marks of mastery.
Now I logged onto my alt priest to do this and get a piece I was missing from s2, but it did not give me the dragonflight season 2 master achievement despite this being my first clear of heroic aberrus on that character (not this priest specifically, different one).
Even though it says the dragonflight season 2 master achievement is still completable by that priest, the heroic aberrus achievement itself says it is a warband achievement meaning even though this character didn’t complete heroic until now, it retroactively got the credit for it without the season 2 master achievement also automatically completing.
This is pretty unfortunate. Not super happy about that. There aren’t any good ways to go and get past transmog sets from raids until they become legacy raids years down the line, this was the only real way. On top of that most of the reputations in the game arent part of the warband system, even ones from shadowlands lol, so you still have to go and do those on each character.
Uh…are you sure you weren’t getting the season 4 version? The one that you turn in near the other bullion vendors?
Yes I am positive. I was specifically getting the season 2 and 3 achievements by doing those raids on heroic on new characters. The season 4 version grants you an awakened mark of mastery, the others grant you a mark of mastery from that specific season (emerald mark of mastery for season 3, draconic mark of mastery for season 2) if you meet one of the three requirements. The only requirement still completable for those seasons is clearing the raid from that season on heroic.
I was handing them in to the vendors in each of the old areas that were used in those seasons. Zaralek caverns for s2 vendor and wellspring atrium for s3 vendor. I’ve done this on multiple characters already. It is only today that there was an issue, I was not granted the heroic aberrus achievement despite never doing it on that character until now, I believe that is because it is a warband achievement now. And that means the season 2/3 mastery achievements cannot be completed on new characters.

I am not sure if it is a bug or an intended thing but there are lots of weird things going on.
ie anima cannot be transferred - idk why, so oribos it is.
some pvp quests got hard reset… alt army was for nothing…
honor gaining is bugged.
and it looks the weekly sightless eye quest is removed. what a great idea, it is really nice to go back to 2016 and farm at dalaran sewers.
idk man idk, there are lotsa weird things going on right now.
oh btw if you are looking for farming the legion class hall mounts/pets I have some bad news for you. You still have to do the long-a legionfall achievement. If there is a quest, you can get the mount/pet by finishing that quest. BUT if the item is being available at your class hall vendor/npc the items don’t show up. =) aannnd even if you want to do the achievement to get those, since now that we have warbands, you cannot track it.

There definitely is a lot of weird stuff going on. I mean it was expected with warbands, its a huge thing, I’m just hoping things like this are an oversight and not something that they will call intended. Especially the season master quests from season 2 and 3, that is literally the only way to get those appearances come TWW until they enable legacy loot a couple years from now.
Worked fine before this, all they’d need to do I guess is give season 2/3 master achievements to new characters at level 70 retroactively/automatically if you have completed heroic aberrus or heroic amirdassil already. The master achievements say they can be completed by that character, its the heroic achievement itself that seems to be the issue.

This is still an issue. Alts cannot complete any dragonflight season master achievements and therefore cannot get any marks of mastery from season 2, 3 or 4. Season 2 and 3 marks were used to collect tier transmog from the raids in those seasons, and season 4 mark was used for current gearing on alts.
Marks are per character, it is even stated by the developers marks are per character (not once per account). I have gotten marks on all of my alts up until the pre patch when warbands came out.
When you completed the raids before pre-patch did you complete the raid on Heroic or Awakened Heroic? Maybe the fact that all raids are Awakened during pre-patch are preventing these clears to register for the Season 2 and Season 3 achievements. If so, it might go back to normal once the raids are no longer Awakened.
But honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Marks was intended as a seasonal award only earnable during the respective season, but they only got around to fixing it during Pre-patch

any update on this topic? :c
Still isn’t fixed, not sure if it’s intended or not, if this isn’t fixed in TWW i doubt blizz will be looking to fix it anytime soon or they might just leave it as is
