Warbands and running content with AI controlled Alts?

This would be amazing and innovative for WoW. I could create a “Warband” group of 5 and then run content with AI controlling my alts and just me controlling my main.

No more waiting for healer/tank etc., because I have already leveled and geared them the way that I want and they are available to help me at all times.

I’m not sure that’s what warbands are, but I agree, that would a lot of fun!

I really hope I’m able to group with my own alts. I just want a band of foxes following me everywhere (not just in dungeons or whatever). :fox_face: Imagine, 5 Vulpera beast master hunters all with two pet foxes riding fox mounts and with a fox battlepet. ;o;

That’d be great.

Well, it would put multiboxing down once and for all.

I’m just hoping the npc companions in delves arent like most and actually contribute damage and healing. So many times we’ve had “companions” that pulled random agro, did next to no damage to the enemy or healed for less than a health pot while you still do all the work.
If it feels like you have some actual back up in that npc, then I’ll be ok with it. If they give it some actual AI where it can responsively heal, tank or dps in a given situation, that’d be nice too. Rather than it sitting there auto attacking an enemy for less than 2% of its HP in 30 seconds.

I think delves are a prelude to what trusts are in FFXIV.

Trusts for those unfamiliar is a group of story NPCs that will run dungeons with you. This helps out DPS players a lot. However these NPCs are not 3000 rating players.

They won’t clear the dungeon and mass pull everything. It takes longer and sometimes longer than you’d take if you just accepted the 15 minute queue.

But it is very low stress.

I’d rather group with my ai alts than with any of you.

They took it all from SWTOR just like the Warband(Legacy) and Heroic skills (Legacy Heroics) ideas.

There is nothing innovative about it, they are very old ideas and are only new to WoW.

No, it would make multiboxing even more successful as now you can do a near full group with just 2 accounts and they said 1-5 players. 5 accounts would then mean 10 if all 5 have a companion.

As long as the rewards are extremely sub par.

shrug

From what they described, it’s not one single feature, but a bunch of QOL changes to make alts a little bit easier. Account-wide reputation, collections, transmog appearances, etc.

Trusts are a thing that WoW should absolutely implement. I do it every time I run a dungeon for the first time in FF, it’s really immersive having the story characters with me making commentary as we go through, instead of randos. That said, I don’t think warbands are that.

They won’t complain and kick me for going the wrong way.

War bands aren’t that. Warbands are just alts. Delves are the things I’m hoping they expand the AI tech with. First it’s delves and then dungeons.

That’s what it sounded like warbands would be but now I’m not sure.

They really only mentioned the reps and shared stuff.

Don’t think they distinctively mentioned running dungeons with them.

Innovative has a meaning. You mean very DIFFERENT for WoW. You cannot be original with a thing that exists. In fact, ESO also has it, though not as long as SWTOR and thus, the features are near standard…in fact, LoTRo has had shared reputation for near 20 years with story NPCs in many dungeons.

Either way, that is not how the word is used. Its a common misconception since the word Innovate means “to change” and people think innovative means the same thing. It does not.

Anyway, I am not arguing that the features are “bad” or will not improve the game. I can be a stickler about how words are used.

I would like this too. It would be fun to run heroic or leveling dungeons with alts, but I don’t think this is happening with the warbands concept.

I can’t see how warbands relates to what you are claiming. Are you sure you aren’t talking about Delvers?

They have a companion system. The companion can equip different equipment changing their role. Tank/DPS/Healer. It fights by your side aiding you.

SWTOR has all the features though. Warbands are SWTORs Legacy and the Heroic skills are SWTORS Legacy Heroics. WoW is just bringing it via a tree that allows you to choose which skills to unlock while SWTORS is a set you cant choose from.

I would never tell someone not to experience other games, just understand that the game has a low population and is F2P for a reason.

The games core is downright amazing and is story driven. I WOULD suggest to play through each classes storyline as they are top of the line stories IF…IF you are a Star Wars fan. Past the class stories the games quality drops so expect you may then lose interest in the game.

If you are serious and want some protips, send me a PM to keep the thread clear of a possible topic hijacking lol.

…I just remembered there are no PMs on these forums…sorry.

If you are into Jedi, SWTOR has 2 Jedi classes and 2 Sith classes. The Jedi Knight story is spot on and will make you feel like one. The Jedi Consular story is a bit boring and awkward. Both Sith stories are top notch. If you go into it looking at it more like a Multi-player RPG with a Single player RPG level story, you may get into it a lot more. All classes will gain their first companion in the first 8-15 levels. There are 5 story companions before the end of the original story and a royal boat load of them outside the main story. You can only have 1 companion with you at a time and each companion has different aesthetics.

I want to play with my alts too, if they were good or played like you did at least, that would be nice.
