I think this will encourage them to make classes simpler.
If it actually happens. I didn’t see much except some articles from game rant on it actually coming out. Nothing as far as official announcements, in fact I found the opposite of wow denying it would happen.

Mechanically ffxiv is a much easier game though. Wow would have to prune quite a bit to be available for console.
I don’t see this happening any time soon, but it is possible that they plan to eventually move to console since they announced tww at the xbox convention.

It’s not happening in TWW, but given that XBox supports keyboard and mouse, I’d be very surprised if this was more than 5 years away.
Diablo 2/3/4 are all much better on console personally. Controller is a big improvement for ARPG character movement over mouse, there’s enough buttons to handle the abilities, and the smart targeting is good enough that you don’t really every struggle to select the right target.
As someone who played all BFA on a steam controller and an xbox elite controller, I think there’s a few specs in WoW that have a long way to go before this would be a good experience. Ground target intensive specs like Destruction or hunter traps are pretty tedious. I mained Rogue then and did very well with basically no issues other than typing stuff into the AH window.
