Finally, they are replacing BFA starting experience with dragonflight coming in the prepatch it was needed for a long time. When in Dragonflight shadowlands was supposed to replace BFA but didn’t but thank god in war within prepatch they are finally removing BFA starting experience. It was time anyways to retire BFA starting experience.
Is it the linear zone-to-zone progression, or the early flight that you like about DF? Because the story wasn’t great, was highly disjointed with the chapters locked behind renown, and just kinda silly overall.
I don’t think DF would be a good start point for a new player. Imagine if one of the first experiences you have in WoW is meeting an enthusiastic young fighter who gets killed on on the first set of quests. Then you get hit by those centaurs yelling at you, bragging about who is the best hunter then going on and on about their bird god.
Also dragon flight seems a bit much for new players. Trying to control the flight will be difficult and getting the glyphs will not be easy at all for new players even if they did know where to look for them.
BfA seems a lot better for a starting experience and it’s not all that difficult a step from there to DF.
That’s what I said in another thread and the OP has been arguing on another alt with me over it lol.
New players aren’t stupid. They do it just fine in GW2 and other games.
Let’s stop treating new players like they’re two year olds.
I think to keep new players interested you need to start them with a more exciting campaign, like Legion.
Dragonflight introduces them to all of the new and updated systems in the game: dynamic flying, new crafting, how questing is designed, etc.
Legion is old, half of it is a system that no longer works and is greyed out.
If I am being honest I liked BFA better. At least before the Naztajar and old god crap.
a soft admittance that shadowlands was a masterful mistake.
No trolling or joke but WoD should be the starting expansion. It still has one of the best leveling experiences and the story doesn’t really fall apart till the raids.
linear zone to zone progression that doesn’t interrupt itself sending me to another island I largely do not care about and will never care about now that BFA is no longer current.
Also any leveling experience that’s detached from artifact/heart of azeroth is a better leveling experience in my book.
I mean, we should be addressing the misconception that the game has new players in the first place.
If things have a steep learning curve it does not mean you are stupid if you struggle with it. What people do have these days is a short attention span and if you give them too many hurdles at the start they will just shrug and move on.
Never understood why they just didn’t stick with Cataclysm for beginners.
Not only do you have a fixed location with quest hubs, but there’s a lot less quests with cinematics and story-driven hallmarks that allows new players to explore the zones and enjoy their classes.
Professions are relatively easy to understand and the materials are abundant.
Dragonriding is a basic glide mechanic that many other games have, from Batman games, to Spiderman games, to GW2 and others in between.
There is no “steep learning curve” for anything in DF. There are no “hurdles.” Just because you can’t figure it out and don’t play other games, doesn’t mean they’re the same way. Most people younger than myself that I know that have tried WoW call it an old people’s game, because it’s so stupidly easy to figure out for younger generations who play so many more intricate ones.
Your perspective is way off. As usual.
Because this:
And there we go, the fallacy of ad hominem, which has no other purpose than trying to prop up a weak argument.
There’s nothing false about it. Your experience in gaming is not theirs. My experience in gaming is not theirs.
It helps if you’d read further, but since you had a poor argument to begin with, you won’t and will just act offended instead.
I’m just not engaging further.
100% fallacy of ad hominem. Not one rational argument about anything other than the person with whom you debate.
I suspect he is on staff…
legion should be the starting experience.
so new players know how good they had it before the garbage we got after
