Bit sorry for click-baiting people with the question mark, but I do hope you stick around. I’ve seen people whingeing that this new development is going to kill wow, because expansions are going to be yearly, and we’ll have like one patch, and their will be no content, ect.
I kind of understand where some of these people are coming from, because I was actually confused as to whether The War Within was the next patch or the next expansion, but I think quite a few people are just trying to generate controversy.
Blizzard hasn’t said anything about the next three expansion releasing on a yearly basis, which is the main complaint I’m seeing. While it’s not really unlikely I don’t this it is likely, More people have said that Dragonflight won’t have a point .3, which has also never been said (at least to my knowledge, if someone gives me a source I’ll admit this is my bad),although I also see this as a possibility. A lot of those same people are saying expansions will feature one less patch, which is simply not something which has been said.
This is merely to prevent more people from getting angry over speculation, because none of this stuff has been confirmed or even commented on by Blizzard.
A healthy dose of skepticism is fair when it comes to Blizzard, but it is a bit annoying to see this talking point thrown around with so much confidence simply for the sake of being negative.
Completely agree, as I said, I think many of those claims do have some kind of reasonable base, but they seem to be getting a bit out of hand, and creating negative sentiment from nothing.
My understanding is that the War Within is 1 of 3 expacs to come.
Then there’s Midnight and the last one they mentioned is called the Last Titan.
I also remember that Metzen said they’re trying to release expacs/content “a bit” faster than they have in the past.
He didn’t give any time frames except to say that the next expac will be released in 2024, next year but didn’t say when.
He also mentioned it’d be in time for WoW’s 20th anniversary (whenever that is) and that the story will progress through several expacs, tying up all kinds of loose story threads.
Yeah people are just making assumptions. Chris never said “one year expansions.”
As far as we know they’ll still be as long as Dragonflight, which would still make his statement of “expansions coming out faster” be true. And that’s still enough time for a .1, a .2 and a .3 fated (assuming we get one).
Some people on these forums just love to automatically assume the worse and be negative nancy’s over things in their imagination, rather than just wait and see what actually happens.
Yeah, for anyone who doesn’t know the anniversary is in November, which probably means we still got 6 months to a year of Dragonflight, more than enough for a .3. Thank you for that information
They did say that .2 is the last raid though. So there might be a .3 but who knows what content it’ll have.
That’s kind of good because I’m a slow player and there’s still some stuff I want to complete before DF is over so now I got some time.
These forums are either people who have a hard time listening or people who could win the lottery and still be a Negative Nancy.
These forums are a cesspit, honestly. It’s people addicted to rage and arguing just working each other up for fun. Blizzard hasn’t said how many patches or what content the later two expansions will have. These kinds of people are just assuming the worst and getting mad over it based on the info that they’ll try to release them a little faster than normal (something that has been promised before but failed to be delivered).
If you’re rational, just wait until we have more info. This announcement was sparse and we’re a year out from the first expansion’s release. By next week we could have all new info confirming the expected number of content patches per expansion.
War Within is the next expansion, yes. Metzen explicitly said it is WoW’s 10th expansion.
It seems these three expansions are going to be coming out quicker (and thus be smaller) so that the story cadence is better.
Thank you for that bit as well, personally I’m fine with .2 being the last raid of DF, as I’ve really been hoping Iridikron will live to the next expansion.I actually didn’t know Blizz had said that so thank you.
Imagine GD actually doing this.
I mean its looking like the next 3 expansions are just going to be 2~ major content patches packaged and sold.
That’s blizzards fault for their poor presentation if it isn’t the case, but its looking like the next 3 expansions are just slightly larger dragonflight content patches.
There’s literally nothing to indicate this.
I man they explained exactly what it is.
The Worldsoul Saga was announced at BlizzCon as a multiple-expansions storyline
The tenth World of Warcraft expansion will be called The War Within. This expansion will be the first part of the Worldsoul Saga and will take within Azeroth.
This expansion will feature Nerubians and Ahn’kahet.
The Worldsoul Saga was announced at BlizzCon as a multiple-expansions storyline, and the second chapter of the saga is called Midnight! This chapter is entirely Void themed, with the forces of the Void invading Azeroth to attempt to plunge the Light out of the Sunwell. Help unify the Elven tribes to stand with the Light.
The twelfth World of Warcraft expansion will be The Last Titan, the final chapter of the Worldsoul Saga. This expansion will have us returning to the old world and Northrend.
In the expansion we will return to Ulduar and witness the return of the Titans to Azeroth. We will cover a vast conspiracy, which will stretch throughout the history of the world. It will challenge everything you think you know. Titans and the intentions and the true nature of Azeroth itself.
This creates a window for them to develop all 3 expansions side by side in terms of story/lore so that the dev time needed to build each expansion will be reduced. It also gives them a very easy guideline for when they need to introduce something into the game that currently doesnt ‘fit’.
Well, the executive producer who I always forget her name mentioned something that sounded like we will have a 10.3 so to speak before the expansion.
However, this hype is what WoW should do like Final Fantasy did, a saga with 2 or more expansions, although it was already seen as a saga before.
- from Vanilla to Cataclysm is after Warcraft 3 saga.
- from MoP to Shadowlands is the fourth war saga
- and DF as a joke I would say that Woke no saga is boring, because that expansion sucks.
Anyway, we know that Mezten will go big and that is what was needed that true WoW atmosphere that Danuser failed to give us after BfA.
The biggest problem is they’re billing up to $100 for an expansion. That’s crazy for a game that charges $15/month.
We’re heading into a bear economy. The live service pricing won’t be sustainable.
You should see my General Chat! It’s either people being trolls and think they’re funny, or it’s a wasteland filled with political shrieking that even both The Young Turks and Steven Crowder would agree that it’s too much.
So I guess my clickbait worked a bit too well, I actually do know that wordlsoul is a set of 3 xpacs. I really appreciate everyone who’s been explaining it, however the question was meant to be rhetorical. My apologies homies.
