From everything that you are seeing or reading or hearing what is your personal opinion of the expansion in terms of everything that is coming with the expansion?
You like it or not already based on what you already think about WoW.
The usual “WoW is bad” people are already state its bad.
The people enjoying WoW are gonna state they are looking forward to it.
I am excited to try it, it has a lot of things in it that makes me think the expansion is a major step in the right direction.
I have little idea what’s coming. something about anduin-not-the-river im guessing? Thrall is probably gonna be all buddy buddy with something. What happened to the giant sword and the laser ship? Oh right and the dagger lady. She’s gonna be annoying. Raid wipes because of the floor and the aoes being the same colour or the hitboxes being wrong. And anduin-not-the-river will cry me a river.
Another alliance adventure like Legion. What a time to be a horde player.
I need to hear cross faction BGs. Then i’m in.
The laser ship is why we go under ground.
They are running out of hidden lands. Some dude on that ship has had like 4-5 years to watch the world spin and map it. There can be no new land lore friendly.
Dragon isles cashed that final check. Some dude on the vindicaar had to have seen it by bfa times at least.
My thoughts are good. I’m excited to play it. The earthen look way cooler than i had expected and I will gladly add another paladin to the crew. I’m especially excited to play through hallowfall. The general sentiment from the alpha testers is that it is an incredible zone. Like an all time great for the game. Those armor sets alone make me want to get down there!
To be determined, I guess?
Some of the features sound very nice.
Earthen were a boring pick, but I might end up liking them a lot depending on how they’re written.
Alliance characters leading another expansion… again… is kind of irksome.
Without getting into spoilers, I think a lot of the plot points that have been spoiled do sound very interesting.
So, I’m optimistic but Blizzard can take things in a boring or bad direction and I will quickly change my mind.
My take is it will be like every other expansion.
-
on Release it will be super great and loved. Best expansion since (your favorite) and way better that DF!
-
Then some gripes will come out.
-
Blizz will nerf something folks liked .
-
The expansion will settle and be whatever.
-
People will then get sick of it and find all the issues to hate.
-
Someone will say that DF wasn’t that bad and it’s actually better.
Then someone will have early thoughts on the next expansion.
But MANduin looks awesome so it’s 10/10 for me
Let me see if I can explain this. When I started playing back in TBC, I watched the trailer for TBC, and in the trailer what was presented was this purple winged demonic looking figure who was clouded by a skull tell the audience “YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!”.
You know what that did? It made me and my friends curious, we wanted to know who is Illidan? What is the Black Temple going to be like? When can we do Kharazan and why? All these questions made us excited to do the content in WoW!
In WotLK we were presented by a KING, one who was actually cool and could raise the dead back to life. “And you my son, one day shall be King”, the first thought is when can I join! And then it makes you excited to find out more about Arthas and what happened to make him one of the top 100 villains in Entertainment by multiple media outlets, almost putting him just slightly lower than Darth Vader in the rankings.
In WoD, we thought the big baddie in the trailer, Grommash, was going to be the super villain whose influence we will feel a high impact on, and to be honest WoD was actually one of my favorite expansions because we ultimately did see the super villainy for this character. But then the whole friendship arc ruined it, it just didn’t make any sense that this guy who we were pursuing just turns out to become one of our friends later on. On top of that we will never understand Gul’dan’s real motivations for helping the Legion, it just never made any sense.
In Dragonflight, that curious excitement never happened. Why? Because the dragons in WoW are really the most uninteresting unappealing characters in the planet. Why are some of them friends with us? The only compelling dragon was and always has been Deathwing!
So when it comes to TWW, there’s nothing interesting about Xal’atath that’s drawing the audience in, except for the people who got the dagger in Legion. Nothing is cool about this character at all, it’s like a bland character from Guild Wars. At the same time there’s nothing really cool about Alleria Windrunner either.
Instead of getting a compelling, cool villain like Bane, we get an ambivalent Robin Hood. As someone who just came back for the remix using a WoW token, I am still debating if playing this game is worth the time and energy, especially considering what the population has become over the years. Those teens who were sane years ago are no longer sensible people anymore, and a lot of old heads are really incapable of becoming better players. Like there hasn’t been a good guild I’ve been in for a long time, and that’s just because people have gotten too soft, I don’t know.
As soon as I saw Eternal Flame (my baby from MOP) I was in
I think most everything coming with TWW sounds great (except Earthen), but also there’s not really any big exciting feature that I can’t wait to try out. Mostly just looking forward to the whole game starting out fresh together again and new content.
Still waiting for something cool to happen…hopefully.
Not super excited by anything I’ve seen so far, but WoW’s still cheap enough that it’ll be worth picking up to see how it goes.
What I’ve seen looks good but I haven’t seen a lot. I would say it has some good bones on it for sure. Reminds me of BFA alpha, lots of potential but Blizz could still drop the ball.
Well you all lilled most of your leaders and then beg us to save you… whadda expect?
I realized early on in TBC that at their core, expansions are just more of the same with slightly different packaging. I didn’t mind that until we got to Shadowlands and finally got bored with it. I thought Dragonflight would reinvigorate it but nope. That’s how I feel about WW. I’ve read all the things Blizz has put out about it and just can’t bring myself to be the least bit interested. It looks like more of the same.
I still come to these forums because I have like 9 more months of gametime pre-paid for and they’re relatively active.
I try not to read much about new expansions (and I don’t watch streamers) so it can be as new/fresh as I can make it without going to crazy levels avoiding anything WoW related on the internet.
Wow was bad though back in BFA and Shadowlands.
There’s no denying that.
However.
Dragonflight rebounded to what wow should be. Being pigenhold into something along the lines of Torghast or soul binds and covenants or Azerite power with a neck piece you had to have or a cloak you had to have to be “powerful” to do group content and be deemed viable was not fun.
Dragonflight fixed that.
The devs have to learn from their mistakes or lose their subscribers.
