I’ll very happily respect that, I just came in to apologize on behalf of my server and found myself accosted by two WrA players who are upset at me for defending myself against ad hominem on the General Discussion forums.

Purple skinned eight foot elves turned into white skinned 5 1/2 foot elves.
People’ve been roleplaying people of color in places they didn’t exist for a looong time because it makes LESS sense that those skin colors ARE NOT represented by the population.
Humans went from giant metal or rock vikings that became white people inexplicably and then became way smaller because “curse”. There’s black and asian humans with no explanation because THAT’S HOW IT IS.
You don’t need to explain everything. There are people that exist in a world. This world is of magic and mayhem. If you sincerely DEMAND a reason why they’re here, why are women in Warcraft?
Why did the Titans make women when they don’t reproduce biologically? It was convenient so that when the curse of flesh hit, there’d be a way to continue the story of Warcraft. If the curse just hit male titanforged, they’d be dead in less than a generation.
Trolls had different skin tones, so do night elves, so why don’t blood elves?

They do and did, especially with the old model. They had the very tan red skin that looks like a painful sunburn from a caucasians perspective (cause as it turns out, if you pay close attention, their pale skin color is not a 1:1 coorelation with white skin. They aren’t white. They are pale pink descendents of a dark pink/purple species.)

I changed my mind when your server-mates chose to both bump the thread and be disrespectful towards me.

That’s a little funny to say when they have the same complexion as my family members. Blood Elves are based off of traditional fantasy elves, which are based off of Norse mythos. Elves are often rooted deeply in certain harmful mindsets, such as racial supremacy and ethnic purity, that opening the gates to other skin-tones is a nice message.
There is no lore saying these skin tones don’t exist. There’s no explanation needed for the new human cosmetics, the new dwarf cosmetics, so why do blood elves explicitly need them? Dwarves have never been black skinned, at least not in the normal sense. Suddenly they are. What’s the reasoning behind that? There’s never been humans with the facial structure shown in Blizzcon (the asian one in specific, because there are black humans in Traveler). There is no need for a lore explanation for these things.
If there was, then I really want an explanation why a rock becomes a white man through an eldritch curse.

You’re right, and they’ve long been established as racists in World of Warcraft lore as well, with the blood elves in question being descended primarily from the lighter skinned highborne sect that was actively racist and classist against their fellow elves.
If none of this were the case, people would find the inclusion less out of the blue.
Me personally? My headcanon explanation is “half-elves, half-elves everywhere” until someone RPs a more thought out origin story to me. That’s the way my goblin would react to seeing an elf that looks different than every other elf she’s ever seen. She’d assume they’re half-human.
