I think its a good feature being able to toggle wpvp on and off. I actually hope they keep it in future xpacs. Also gives people on pve servers an option to dabble in wpvp where they normally wouldnt be able.

Don’t really like it personally. I miss the days when there was guild and player rivalries with server community.

War mode concept isn’t bad in my book, but the way it’s applied with sharding is very poorly done. Also it should never offer any bonus.

I think it is a good feature to build on and improve. I have had it on for almost the entire expansion, Horde and Alliance, and I have found it a lot of fun. Not perfect, but it is a good start.

Not fair to try and compare old school server and guild rivalries though. Those days are gone, outside of Classic. The alternative is Dead Realm Syndrome.

I like it too. I prefer it how it used to be, but I admit it’s good to provide variety to the player base. Especially if people who have only played on PVE servers want to see the other side of the game in all its glory.

I’m looking forward to the Tarren Mill vs Southshore battles again. I still remember the day in Vanilla where I accidentally found myself in the middle of a raging battle. It was awesome.

People that play on dead realm should switch if they don’t want to play on them. A reason Blizzard said they aren’t merging dead realms is because they say some people prefer them that way.

I have to laugh that anyone is REALLY looking forward to this.

Ya it’s fun. For like 20 minutes. But once the “whoa this is cool!” newness of it wears off… there is nothing there. The complete waste of time that was SS v TM was the reason Blizzard starting putting bonuses to wPvP objectives-- to give you a REASON to just mindlessly farm the other side.

Seriously, take some bleach to those rose-tinted goggles.

Thats most due sharding and crz tbh. Hopefully they will do mega servers.

The concept of warmode is good, i always have mine turned on. Can’t say that i suffer with community because i play on brazil realms and warmode only links brazilians which are a small community so to speak. Probably is the same for LA servers, maybe blizzard could just make megaservers for each US region.

They will likely keep it in future expansions. They removed the PvP/PvE server distinction for this, they’re in for the long term here.

The reason we won’t see realm mergers is because merging servers is actual hell. As somebody who just spent the whole weekend working because we simply moved a server rack 10 feet to the right and then plugged it back in, let me just say the actual act of merging two WoW servers together would be a nightmare. I do more splitting than merging, but it gives me heartburn to think about the logistics.

Duplicate IDs all over the place, potential loss of character info, potentially merging servers where players already have max characters, conflicting realm-respective achievements… it would be a bumpy ride. There are at least a dozen good reasons to never merge servers, none of them having to do with game play.

Yes Blizzard is a small indie company I shouldn’t expect them to have the experience or competent workforce to do it.

Alright, well … being as to how you don’t speak for me or anyone except yourself, I appreciate your input; however, I’m going to continue to look forward to something I enjoyed from my vanilla experience. :slight_smile:

It WOULD be all right if I didn’t get flagged when too close to a PvP NPC. Autoflag isn’t a bad thing, but it should be restricted far more than it is. Out in “the zone” I should only go PvP if I attack a PvP NPC, not if I simply aggro one.

You’re still in coward mode if you flag yourself by attacking guards. No pvp talents, no war mode phase. Im dancing in the middle of Dazar’alor right now while flagged outside of warmode and the only response I got was a Horde dance party outside the inn.
