Hi - my friend and I want to try some arenas for the first time. We’re super casual and not looking to push rating very high. We also only have the two classes available to us so no healer.
What Hunter spec would be preferable for him? He prefers marks or bm in the randoms we do but he can play survival also.
Beast mastery will be your best chance. Grab a spirit beast for some extra sustain and learn to line up your cc and burst.

In twos as double dps is our initial beat plan to cc the healer and kill the dps or try to kill the healer?

use your stuns on dps
Is he decent at survival? I would suggest you have him play that for the better CC / utility for the comp. He can root any melee with net and follow it up with undispellable trap. Usually that trap will get trinket at lower rating, which he can then use intimidation to CC the dps again while you both kill the healer.
