op and the guy asking about his vulpera concept should buddy up together.
also the problem with vulpera being horny creeps, generally, is that they tend to talk about sexual topics unfiltered, and don’t stop when people either tell them to quit it or they get much worse about it. Least they did while I was still playing
Some peeps take this game way too seriously. Play what you like. It’s not like you’re going to end up meeting a majority of people on this game anyway.
It’s not even just the people on wow, its one of my friends as well, sometimes I release that I don’t do things cause I know they’ hate on me for it, maybe thats not a good friend ship, I shouldn’t need to think to myself “hey i shouldn’t do this or my FRIEND will be mean to me about it”
I had a friend once constantly hate on me and say terrible, toxic things for playing horde sometimes while they’re alliance. Same friend had the same attitude because I used the mage tower bear tint and they always made it a point to tell me how ugly and disgusting it was every time they saw it.
The bottom line is that a friend that does this to you isn’t a friend and has some growing to do, tbh. I’d say this doubly so if you express to them how you don’t appreciate the way their comments make you feel, and they double down. You’re right that you shouldn’t need to think that, your enjoyment and hobbies are for you first and foremost, not your friends or bystanders.
I love coyotes irl. Awesomely adaptable species. From a distance they’re kinda cute and fluffy. But housebroke doggies they are most definitely not. Come the zombie invasion they will fare way better than any human survivors. IMHO Vulpera are a lot the same. Friendly smiling wanderers, until it’s time not to be. “Shamanistic nomad” sounds like a great character concept seed.
I could see that, or a Vulpera Survivor Hunter or Rogue, shades of Mordin Solus from Mass Effect 2. ‘This stature is beneficial, actually. Orc, tauren, troll, worgen…all apparent physical threats. Me? They never see me coming.’
I like to think the ones who hate on vulpera are just jealous they can’t spontaneously pull a camp out of their bag and tell ghost stories around a nice campfire. That or they died to a vulpera that threw their bag of tricks at them.
Yep, pretty much. Ask any blood elf player that’s been around since TBC or even many vanilla undead players and they’ll tell you how a lot of Horde folks simply cannot deal with the Horde looking anything but exactly how it appeared at the end of WC3. And some extremely vocal Male Orc Warriors would prefer things go even further back than that!
And, of course, the Alliance has a ton of players that simply can’t abide anything that doesn’t fit within an extremely narrow Eurocentric standard of beauty.
People just don’t like that the reality of the Warcraft universe doesn’t fit into their incorrect perception.
I was rooting for and frankly, still would prefer, Gilblins over Vulpera.
That said, I can’t say my experiences roleplaying with Vulpera characters have been bad at all. Sure, in the beginning, I ran into more than a few “steal everything that isn’t bolted to the ground” types, but that mellowed out and for me at least, the Vulpera characters I ran into weren’t any better/worse than avatars from any other race.
I’ve had the honor of playing alongside many a fine Vulpera-mains over the years. We even had an entire clan in our guild named the Red Rocks because so man of them had the same red pattern.
I play my Vulperas in a great guild. Weekly guild RP events and lots of chances to interact IC with guildies during the week (as long as you’re ok being IC in the Shadowlands; lots of pick-up Torghast and M+ runs). ERP is banned and furry talk is at a pleasantly surprising minimum. It’s a nice group of people that just think Vulpera are a neat race.
Oh, and the new fox Spirit Wolf glyph on a Vulpera slaps.
I think this goes for anything shiny and new, people will have those creative bursts when given a new toy, but many won’t commit in the long run to an idea unless it really speaks to them. I’ve similarly been honored by my Vulpera friends who are wonderful and delightful players both IC and OOC, who have put in the effort and dedication to make rich developed characters.
