Tired of the standard eye beam, chaos strike…wait for eye beam type of play style.
Been using momentum for awhile on my alt DH and it’s so much more fun. Any guides you see tho, either tell you it’s trash or it’s impossible to run.
Flat 15% damage on call seems pretty strong to me. All you really miss out on is demonic, which is 6 second haste buff, every…20 seconds or so?
Keeping momentum up is harder for sure, but I can’t really see how it’s trash. Much more engaging for sure. Makes you think about your environment and space accordingly.
Am I crazy? Anyone out there try it?

I found a guy on youtube/twitch that plays momentum, he goes by the name of CCnation(youtube) and proccnation (twitch). I´ve learned a lot of rotation tricks with him, I hope you find it useful.
The reason it is bad compared to Demonic is that we are haste starved right now and DH scales amazingly with haste so it is just a no thinker to take it since the more haste we have the more chaos strikes we can get out compared to a flat 15% damage increase. The 15% is great don’t get me wrong but you also have to take into account that you have to use your mobility for it so if you have to move then you are kinda screwed and also you have to remember that you could miscalcuate your retreat or rush and end up pulling a pack in dungeons.
If you would like to play momentum build more I would suggest trying out the Erratic Fel Core legendary, it will essentially make your momentum 100% uptime.

Momentum was “fun” during like the ending of Legion. But that was when DHs could afford to use their mobility for damage.
NOW! DHs mainly use their mobility for defense. But if you have enough vers and you spec into some healing then yeah. I guess it can work.

its not 15% haste, its 25% haste +25% leech and then if eye beam isn’t kicked, its +15% haste.
The biggest Reason why momentum is worse off than demonic is the added damage modifiers you receive while being in meta for annihilation and deathsweep. These along with the added haste and leech grant you more damage in the current burst window. Chaos strike hits like a wet noodle, so when you add 15% damage on it, it still will hit for less damage than Annihilation. The same goes for deathsweep. As for your other abilities, Glaive and Eyebeam both do more damage with haste than they would with a 15% dmg increase. The only real benefit I can tell from playing with momentum is for larger hunt hits, which then only put it back to where it was at the start of the xpac before they nerf the conduit by 50% for pvp.
Sure momentum might sim a bit higher than demonic, but the payoff is way too much for the slight increase in overall damage.
Why would I sell my soul to Sargeras and gain 2% more damage if I have to fel rush into fire and vengeful retreat off of platforms to obtain it? Way too stressful
If you like it more power to you, but I literally hated the game soooooo much for the first week of SL when I thought momentum was better. Going back to demonic was like a breath of fresh air!
Thanks for all your replies.
DH was my main last expac. I ran demonic for most of it, and switched over to momentum this expac for a bit until I rolled a Druid for healing (DH can’t heal…).
I will say that there are places that momentum is hard to play (looking at you cold heart interstitia). In my limited time playing it so far, it’s just so much more dynamic than demonic, which revolves around so few buttons. I found myself just sitting there waiting for eyebeam, and spamming chaos strike. With momentum (felblade, demon blades, first blood) …I’m actually having to think. I switch back to demonic and the difference was jarring.
No legendaries yet, but I can see several things helping it, like the lower fuel rush or chaos theory
