Want to make topic about this casual stuff going on

So Idk if anyone has already said it in another thread but I think this needs to be understood and seen by people who are complaining about gear acquisition in non end game content, or non group content.

So, the gear you can get from WQs, Covenants, and Callings are as high as it can go. Any higher and you start taking away from actual organized group content that is somewhat challenging. You have 197 gear doing “casual” things. Bring that up to 200-207 you then devalue the loot that comes from Normal Raiding and mid to high level keys, essentially just handing out similarly ranked gear to harder group content. If you start to hand out gear like this the point of N Raiding, and Mid-High level keys become solely based around completion and nothing else, imagine being handed 200-207 gear, essentially skipping a difficulty tier in raiding, and skipping multiple levels of keys, for doing next to nothing but running around killing open world mobs.

That is INSANE. You can not devalue the loot that comes from organized group content, that is the core of most, if not all, MMOs. Your supposed to be incentivized to do this group content for rewarding things. To take that away is almost stripping any MMO of one of its core design philosophies. To be able to even get gear handed to you at an ILVL of 197 is already massive enough, anymore and you start to jeopardize other areas of the game that are some of the most rewarding experiences for so many people.

If people seriously want the gear cap increased for killing open world mobs and questing then it would have to be increased in Normal-Heroic and Mythic raiding, as well as increased for all key levels from 2-15. You can not give out Normal raiding gear, and low-mid level key gear, for questing and killing open world mobs without increasing the ilvl of gear from organized group pve content. In an MMO gear is one of the major focal points in its design, a long with organized group content, completing these things and being rewarded with gear is one of the most enjoyable things in an MMO, by handing out gear at the same ilvl for doing solo trivial content is directly harming the design of organized content in the game.

Without a doubt no matter how many people complain, blizzard will never do what you are asking because it goes against one of the major design pillars of an MMO. It just isnt going to happen and I want people to understand to some degree why it cant happen.

EDIT:
Sorry i dont visit forums often so people are telling me this has been said already about the core design etc. The time I had which was about 20 minutes reading some threads i couldnt find it myself so i just made a thing myself. Im told thats a wrong this to do or people dont like that so ill try not to do it next time i come back here in a month or 2.

It also seems like people are forgetting about mythic level BoEs… even though it has been the same for a long time. If you only like farming gold, that’s fine! If you farm enough you can get mythic level raid gear on the AH and you never have to step into the raid if you don’t want to.

k Ion if you say so.

The problem is mythic +. It has forced itself between casual play and raiding and created a massive mess.

Games that don’t have mythic + DON’T HAVE THIS PROBLEM. WoW pre-Mythic + DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

It isnt just wow, almost every MMO has some of its core design revolve around loot and organized group content. If you create Heroic Item level loot available by doing solo trivial content it directly damages the organized group content in the game and doesnt insensitive people to do that content. which is obviously horrible design.

So make challenging solo or two-four player flex content?

This is why i enjoyed running full mask vision runs in BFA. It took me a while to actually be able to consistently clear solo 5 mask runs, which is good because it was challenging, and it rewarded me with pretty good gear. Im sure if you do it enough it can get annoying but i joined bfa late july 2020 so i didnt get burn out from it like other people

I like the two player content idea! I want to do dungeons and stuff with my dad but we are so bad at pvp :laughing: Like really if you watched a video of us you would cackle. Visions were nice for this purpose and I hope they do more with Torghast!

This WHOLE XPAC is a horrible DESIGN end of story.

Thanks for being the first person ever to voice this opinion.

yeah theres a lot i dont like right now myself, but thats another story. Im just talking about this recent boom of casual stuff wanting higher ilvl gear. Like myself im 3/10 M and im starting to burn out and play RDR2 now, and other games on non raid nights. Maw i visit for weeklys, i might do one 14 key a week, and i do rbgs once a week, raid twice a week, outside of that I dont really want to play much.

Did we really need another thread on this topic or did you just want to make a I want to be special and make a thread for myself instead of contributing to one of the other 50 million threads currently going on in regards to the casual and elitists.

What is actually insane, is Blizzard’s dumb idea to create escalating gear with escalating content, thus super-inflating stats, leading to an impossibly imbalanced class system, thus leading to content that will never feel fulfilling to complete unless you’re one of the uber casuals.

If they had a small, progressive, linear-scaled gear progression system and locked harder content for increasingly better transmogs or something, it’d be another story. But somehow, people seem to think nobody would go for that sort of thing. (Newsflash: You’re wrong. People went gung-ho about Challenge Modes in MoP because they wanted that prestige armor.)

I.e:

  1. Leveling gear goes from 1-10 item level;
  2. World Quest gear goes from 11-14;
  3. Dungeon gear starts at 15, ends at 19;
  4. Mythic 0+ gear starts at 20, ends at 25;
  5. Normal Raid gear starts at 22, ends at 27;
  6. Heroic and Mythic Raids do not reward stronger gear, only ‘cooler’ rewards, thus creating an actually challenging Raiding tier setup.

exactly why i stated “not sure if its been mentioned in another thread”

Only literally THOUSANDS of posts worth…

more so for the fact that putting my comment in a thread with thousands of replies already would mean it most likely isnt seen at all, or people would see what i said, notice its a bit long and skip over it completely. And i just think understanding what increasing the ilvl of questing and open world gear would do is important to the current thing going around all of this.

woah woah woah, pump the brakes GRRM, put a tl;dr on that

this general topic has prob been mentioned that much yeah, but I was not sure if what im specifically saying about the design of MMOs as a whole was brought up and discussed. I dont have time to go through thousands of posts of g forums, i had a few minutes, seen this topic was bouncing around and I wanted to mention why it would hurt the games design overall by inflating the ilvl of solo mob and questing gear.
