Want to correct the misconception about "bots"

Im not denying the fact that bots exist. Oh they exist. Are there scholo and strat bots? westfall lvling bots? fishing bots? yeh

What im arguing is that people are misrepresenting how many bots there are vs how many multiboxers vs how many night owls just want to be left alone…

To some players those all equal bots. And to a small minority bots mean the game is unplayable

No you didn’t. You know how I know?

You started talking about characters following each other when they multibox.

Nobody in the video is using /follow.

Watch the video please.

One keypress may be sent to multiple accounts such that each account takes an action at the same time. This is how it has been for 15 years. You can also legally use /follow.

This isn’t what we’re seeing in the video you never watched. Instead, we’re seeing characters that are independently controlled by scripts with similar behaviors.

These guys exist on my server as well. They’re pretty rare in the open world these days, but they’re around. They moved to instances where nobody can watch their weird movements and figure out that they’re scripted.

Your excuses for why these characters aren’t using scripts are stupid, and you should feel bad about defending them.

Yep, that’s me. You’ll find me probably under level 20 in a starter zone on an “alt.”

I have this problem where I don’t have a “main” in classic just a lot of toons at 20 and under. And I’ll see these trains of followers everywhere.

Also, I see a lot of new alts carrying a lvl 60 bodyguard. Or least a high lvl priest. Must be nice.

Pretty sure the boxing parties of four mages and one priest with gibberish names are bots and/or gold farmers.

Nothing wrong with farming gold. I do it five days a week.

The concern is usually that people are using scripts/bots to farm and/or selling the gold for real money.

I call it farming silver. I did get to 40 gold though. My warlock summons netted me most of that.

They have absolutely no evidence of that, so all their whining is pointless.

Oh yea. Nobody in WoW has EVER farmed gold for the purpose of RMT.

trolololol

Where did i say follow at all in relation to the video? nowhere. its obvious there is no follow on in the video. Its also obvious that each mage starts the attack at a different

No…thats how multiboxer scripts have been written for 15 years. Blizzard has repeatedly said that any 3rd party program that equates one key stroke to multiple actions is against ToS. Multiboxing manually is not.

Yeh they exist. The whole point of this post is to point out that while

they exist, its no where near the epidemic that alot of people are claiming.

Farming for gold isnt against ToS either. Selling gold to players is. Multiboxing with your toons and your account is totally legal.

So what if people farm gold? Your assuming anyone massing lots of gold is definitely selling it? what about the one rogue in my guild that farmed 10k gold to assure he can buy the tiger mount from any winner when it drops in zg?

What about the warrior who has all 100 arcanite bars ready to go but no bindings… These must be botters or gold seller. People cant possibly play the game at an unhealthy rate sitting in a chair for 20 hours right?

So tell me. How do you identify the people farming for RMT?

Other than bigotted tropes involving language.

Looks like comment 14. But you’ve now edited it out.

Cute. REAL cute.

Exact same sequence of motions before casting, only started at different times.

Can you please go back and re-read my comment? Try engaging the gray matter this time around.

Can I get a citation?

I didn’t realize you supported people farming gold via bots for the purpose of RMT.

Why do you think that kind of behavior is ok?

Why are you ok with people using bots for gold farming for the purpose of RMT?

I’m not. I’m just saying you can’t tell who’s doing it.

Evidently you are, or you wouldn’t be here defending them.

I promise you i edited nothing of the sort. I edit most of my posts due to typos cuz I type fast. There was a post that got posted out of order while you were responding that may have mentioned multiboxers and /follow but i assure you it was not related to that video.

I think you need to re-read it. You stated " One keypress may be sent to multiple accounts such that each account takes an action at the same time. This is how it has been for 15 years. You can also legally use /follow." when blizzard has repeatedly said that this is against ToS. Multiboxing is not as long as you dont use the same key stroke to accomplish multiple tasks. IE you can press buttons 1, 2, and 3 simultaneously and have them bound to 3 separate mages to cast fireball. but you cannot have button 1 cast 3 fireballs on 3 different mages.

never said that. I Just said so what if people farm gold? I farm mats and gold any time i need more consumables for raids or want to start a new profession on an alt…or w/e am i allowed to farm resources in the game?

lol, no. The people doing boost runs aren’t stay at home people. By in large they’re no life losers.

Do you really think people want to spend there free time at home doing boost runs for gold? I mean why. It’s not fun. No, most of those mages are botters, or they’re super try hard people with a serious addiction problem.

No…I’m a booster, half my guild runs boosting mages. I spend like 2 hours running alts and make 4-500 gold easily. How am I a botter or how am I no lifing? What’s the difference between me grinding out two hours of Mara vs grinding out two hours of ZF graveyard or grinding two hours of water or air elementals?

How long do you spend in raid? 1 hour? 2 hours? at what point does playing a game become no lifing?

Way easier to get the 500 guaranteed gold than rely on rng drops. The I turnaround and spend the 500 g on another server mage to level one of my alts while I’m working from home. Rinse and repeat until you hve as many lvl 60s as you want
