When i get a wand i vendor it instantly, but i saw one of the new events gave thrm as a reward.
Do people still use these things?

Yes, we do use wand + off hand if the ilvl is higher.
The wand attack though, we do not.

Polearms used to be a joke in game at one point as well. Wands may one day get to shine…I doubt it but you never know.
There’s no reason not to, but 2 handers are a lot easier to level and itemize.
If Blizz ever introduces a new class/spec, it’d be interesting if it could use wands in some way… maybe even if it’s just for casting animations.
Sadly wands generally have (IMO) worse transmog than staves or other one handed weapons. This might be due to the fact that for years they were stat sticks so there wasn’t a heavy need to make cool looking wand models. Another big issue is I love to right click monsters and the wand pulls them. Granted it’s a skill issue on my part but it’s still not fun.

Ah yes, the Hallowfall event. All my toons going there have gotten a wand or two or seven. The drop table in that event is wonky.

And theres no 29th in July. My brain was off.
Guess, what blizzard could do is to make all casters have a different normal attack for ranged and melee.
When ranged, they throw a projectile (that might change effect depending on weapon). And in melee, it’s the good old whack.
But then, casters don’t exactly have any use normal attacks anymore.
Wands exist to humble casters who think they can right click on the boss, pre-pull

Wands are weapons like any other really. For casters in particular they’re all just stat sticks; since we don’t really have any animations that use our weapons, we don’t really get to see them actually being held unless we’re manually unsheathing them or messing around and right-click attacking something.
I use them for RP.

It’s just a one handed caster slot now. Why wouldn’t someone use it?
its the opposite tbh they have have some of the best most psarkliest transmogs but they dont get to see the light of day bcuz the staff stats r usually much better then 1 h and off hand stats .
blizz needs to make them tmoggable over staves ,1h swords, axes, maces at least .
