I like wands. It feels strange to have my mage use a sword. Can we get them back?
Not everything in this game needs have function. Sometimes things will enrich the environment without adding more numbers, or more functionality.
Wands are cool. They fulfill a fantasy. WoW has lost this fantasy in many ways. This is one way to restore that

one of the FEW things I thought was cool in classic when I tried it was some arcane wand I got off the AH.
they should have kept that

I don’t like wands. Casting without aid of a catalyst is my favourite.
Casting through a staff or a sword is okay too though. Wands always felt like an apprentice mage’s tool to me. Something used for learning.
I thought wands and especially the weird hard chucking style wand animations were weird
That said I support options for player customization. More options always better than less options, and it does feel bad that Blizzard likes to remove so many things

The fact that we can’t mog all caster weapons over each-other is sad. Two handers should be able to mog over 1-handers, and you should be able to mog 1h/offhand over a staff. It would be cool though if wands specifically had us casting spells using it, Wands felt so cool in Classic because it’s a utility beyond your means as a caster, a good wand was so memorable, it’s almost like your other half when you’re leveling. Now you just stick it on your hip and never, ever pull it out.
Somewhat related semi-nonsequitur, I always liked how staves stay on the back when we cast, how we channel mana through our hands, not our weapons like an Elder Scrolls staff, it’s unique, but it doesn’t have to exclusively be this way. Some big spells like summoning our warlock Infernal, rezzing or casting a priest’s huge 6 minute CD would be all the more epic if we used our staff for it. Demo’s Legion ability felt so amazing, it was the one ability in the game where we used our staff to tear through reality, so cool!
