I have seen a small handful of people pull it off and I would like to think I gave it a good go tonight. RPing as a stoic Ancient was truly super fun and I really appreciated how receptive people were to me handing out fruit to the refugees in Stormwind. There were event a few Treants that made an appearance which was a nice surprise. Cheers to the community for getting a great mount added to the game.
I wanted to take a poll to see if any Kaldorei and any other interested parties wanted to get together in the next couple weeks and maybe start an RP campaign. In my mind, I think the Ancients that came to Stormwind, and the Kaldorei refugees in the city should start organizing some sort of consistent and stable society even if it is temporary. I was thinking along the following lines:
Week 1/2: Ancients and Kaldorei in the city get together, start planting and distributing crops to refugees and others throughout the city, as we can all imagine that food stores are likely taking a serious hit. We could even go for some long walks into Goldshire and maybe even as far as Darkshire to distribute some goods to citizens.
Week 3/4: A little bit of the same, perhaps some potential discussions about how restless we are and maybe its time to establish some sort of expedition back to Kalimdor. Volunteers can embark onto ships and set out for a location we decide.
Week 5/6: We set out within Ashenvale, or whatever we decide and attempt to secure an area that we can fortify. For this, we would need some serious military protection from Hippogryph Riders, Huntresses, Sentinels, Druids, Ancients, and whatever else we could think of. I think we should go all out. And we can just build on it from there. It may get a little crazy, but i definitely do not mind running a raid group with a D20 rule set for the military portion of the expedition. Ive done some large ones when I led some pre patch events on WRA so i think it can be handled.
I am down for whatever. But I figured we could do something fun and talk dates. Spread the word. Post here if you are interested, and if we get enough interest, I will make a legit post in the forums with dates and a backstory for us.

I would be very interested in an RP campaign like this, my good man. I have a very similar, yet slightly different RP character that I think would fit perfectly with what you have planned. For your see, my character whom I have had for some years now, is not an Ancient, but a Mountain Giant.
Born of the Bedrock of Mount Hyjal itself, Athinn, son of Hyjal, has long been a friend to the Kaldorei people. I adore Night Elves, but I always seem to gravitate to the fringe elements of their societies, heh.

I have a Kaldorei hippogryph rider who would very much be interested in this. She was last military active during the fall of Teldrassil but has since been doing some more low-key work around the refugees. I can see her developing a stronger desire to have a presence within a set NE community, and I would definitely be down for this should you decide to move forward. I think she may be a nice fit ^^

I would suggest starting in Stormwind (or even remaining there) and then branching out to some agreed upon Kalimdor locations if people want to keep rolling with it. From what I’ve seen, the night elf community—while being recently revitalized again—has mostly suffered from not having a major city to gather in. It’s difficult to find RP for them in the open world and it’s inconvenient to have to travel to places of high level/phasing. Waltzing around Stormwind alone feels out of character for a lot of people so I think having an established group there for reasons related to the lore will be exactly the excuse they need.
I would also recommend advertising this in the night elf Discord if you’re looking for more people/help!

YES!!! Great idea all! Stoked. And I’ll definitely advertise on the discord. I think staring in SW will draw are more substantial crowd than starting anywhere else so I agree with you there.

There’s definitely been a lot of talk lately (at least on the forums) about night elf RP and how to overcome its typical limitations (e.g. no city, short-lived guilds, players who take themselves too seriously). This sounds like a great first step.
I agree that it would be better to work with, not against, Stormwind. Like it or not, this is WoW’s story now: Stormwind is the capital of the Alliance, a city of refugees and travelers from all over the world. It is the center of the game and so will be the center of most RP for the foreseeable future. I’m certainly for branching out elsewhere, as I’ve said in many threads, but that’s a long-term goal and not a night elf-exclusive one. And I’d rather not alienate my non-elf friends; I find that the most rewarding RP usually happens with diverse groups of characters.
It seems that many don’t want to admit it, but we do have reasons to be in Stormwind, and plenty of untapped opportunity to RP around the story as it’s been presented to us.
As for my own possible contribution, I envision my current vanity guild as eventually having something to do with aiding refugees and being sort of an unofficial fighting/adventuring force for the more adventurous sort of elves (and allies) who’d find themselves on the other end of the world in the first place.

Thank you for the link. I just posted a little tidbit in the events portion there. Even if this ended up a few people that wanted to have some RP, id be happy to plan it. But i get the feeling this will catch fire and a lot of folks will be interested. If it pleases those interested, would the 20th or 21st work? I can start getting things together if so.
