I’m using a wand and a book in my off-hand. So far the wand/book combo seems to be as good as a staff. As I level up I buy new ones at AH. How far up the levels do wands work. I’m lvl 30 at this time. Will wand/book combo work all the way up to 60? I mean like for stats and such?

In terms of easyness: Staff all the way even on max content. However… if you’re willing to grind it and gimp yourself a small bit till you get wand and book or 1h sword and offhand / what ever combo. In my eyes you will always be cosmetically superior!
Sword is the best answer.
i think that offhand/mainhand compared to two handed weapon is generally even ? when there’s offhand enchants they pull ahead but otherwise two handed is easier to get? I dunno though I’m dumb. Why aren’t there any wand or caster dagger heirlooms blizz I want to blow more gold for no good reason.
Also casters don’t really auto attack or wand attack any more because Spirit isn’t a stat anymore and running out of mana isn’t even a thing anymore for a lot of DPS casters so whatever. Blah.
I wouldn’t buy weapons on the AH tbh. Especially not while levelling. Just quest or dungeon and you will be getting gear and weapon upgrades for free.
Save your gold, you will need it at max level. Your max speed flying at level 40 will cost you a pretty penny as it is. Like 5,000 gold iirc.
To answer your question, it really doesn’t matter if you are using a 1H/off-hand or staff. Just take the item with the higher stamina and int. If your wand and book combined gives you more primary stats (stamina and intellect), use it. If you come across a staff that gives you more primary stats than your wand and book combined, use the staff.
