Hi Lahavas
I’ll link the support page for this issue. There is a “Advanced Troubleshooting” section to open as well.
Waiting on Another Installation or Update - Blizzard Support (battle.net)
The common solution is a computer restart. The second common solution is clearing out the Bnet:
First restart computer to end any running Blizzard processes. Then right-click the Start button and select Run to open the Run command in Windows.
(or use keyboard shortcut: Windows key + R)
Type or paste %PROGRAMDATA% in the Run command box. Click OK. The ProgramData folder should open. Delete the Battle.net and Blizzard Entertainment folders.
Afterwards right click on the Battle.net desktop icon. Select “Run as Administrator”.
I have tried all of the above and I am still getting the issues, even if I uninstall and reinstall… same updating issue… Wow Classic TBC is the only game I have installed, So not sure what it would be updating
If you have worked through all those solutions Lahavas - I would get a ticket open:
Been getting this error for months, now my workaround doesn’t work anymore.
Launcher is always asleep, so I FRICKIN wait for 5 min. Then it says update the game, then it’s PHriCKING waiting on another update. Reinstalling the game doesn’t do sheet, and following all their steps don’t either. Gonna have to unsub soon if I can get this crap to work. Ya I am pissed. If I try to log in not using Bnet, it can’t find a server. Eat me Blizz.
The problem with recent versions of Bnet is that it’s incompatable with other update processes you may have running.
I had to go through msconfig to remove anything else there which updates anything. Found something from EA games, killed that and then Bnet was happy.
The error ‘waiting on another update’ does not mean just blizz updates - it could be something else non blizz related running in the background.
It you can’t find anything else running, the sure fire solution is to install another windows copy on a new partition, install bnet there, and boot to that windows when you need to update. You can then start the game from the exe file bypassing the launcher on your main windows partition.
Problem solved! Thank you.
