That seems to be the stance, if you’re against the changes the pro blizzards will immediately jump down your throat. Or at least that’s what I’ve seen in every single thread.
Exactly what I’ve been saying about it
THere were none from players
And that is on player toons
[/quote]So…this wasn’t a cheap attempt to cover up for legal matters and woke virtual signaling…yes, yes it was, no matter how you slice it.
If the devs are chosing to make these changes on their own volition as a way to clean up the image not for PR or for corporate – then this whole debacle is completely whatever and manufactured to make WoW player create their own Boogieman they can get huffy and triggered over.
To me, it becomes more telling when the same people who are getting mad over such changes claim they are meaningless as a way to mask them getting unironically mad over a video game.
ah, but that’s where you’re wrong! you see, virtue signaling just means “expressing any opinion i disagree with”
I’ve seen players complain about /spit off and on over the years, usually in the context of some streamer encouraging his fans to /spit on people who have done something he doesn’t like, like buy a store mount. /fart, not so much.
Blizz recently stated they wanna make everyone feel safe in the game and welcoming.
Why? It’s a game about war.
Who are they trying to cater to? 8 year olds or adults that haven’t grown up and grow a bit of thick skin?
Better rename the game while at it Blizzard. War kills innocent women and children through history. Wars with lots of men doing the pew pew.
World of Welcoming.
First quest for new toons is to do /sing and pick 5 flowers, then proceed to swipe your CC to hit max level so you can do the big raid where you pick a giant flower, but then realize the flower has feelings too and you hug. But we make sure we ask if it’s okay to hug first.
has anyone linked the reddit thread from earlier that lists a bunch of reactions from blizzard devs about all of this? they were the ones that decided they wanted the changes and they didn’t do it for anyone but themselves
https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/pzcznn/some_blizzard_employee_reactions_on_twitter_to/
They could have just reprimanded the harassers. Dealing with harassment is tricky but the one sure effective way is through bans. Changing emotes so they can’t be done towards a player is not gonna stop some of the more severe forms of harassment. Instead of Blizzard laying off people, they should hire more to handle banning harassers and bots.
we are talking about the images that are going to be changed in this thread so my response is about that.
But they’re not the only changes.
And these changes were datamined first, too.
wow good point. i fully expect the next boxing game i buy to include somebody coming to my house and punching me in the face
It would be nice for them to have a proper CM team again, yes.
I’m not sure how a CM would have divined intent from the act of /spitting on a player without the /spitter saying something to go along with the act.
THAT is an extremely useful thread from the WoW subreddit!
Again, you are missing the point. Its not about the paintings. Its the act of changing them that people have a problem with. I saw these paintings 16 years ago. They didn’t bother me then. They don’t bother me now. They are not problematic. It sends the wrong message to a lot of people and if you would look at the response (not just here on these forums) you would see this has not been received well. People aren’t “acting” like a child when they respond to this. They are speaking out against censorship and the wrong messages this sends.
People can be offended by whatever they want. The accusation was the Blizzard was virtue signaling. Which this is not.
You can chew gum in church, by right. Doesn’t mean you should.
Nice.
No, I just think people are way overreacting to this, and these changes in no way warrant the constant posts we got on it. It’s reasonable to tell unreasonable people they’re being unreasonable.
I’m slicing it as "They quietly made changes, it was found by data scrapers, and people treated it as the Red Scare.
It’s insane how easily people get whipped up over “My freedom!” about anything they don’t like. From the outside, it’s obviously a cover for “Things changing I don’t care for and I’m mad”
Ooooooh, now it makes sense.
Yeah but that’s in the title. People make the choice from the jump. I guess I should repeat I don’t care about the changes, but I wouldn’t have made them.
No they didn’t. They’re puppets of the twitter mob!
Agree to disagree, but changing things isn’t “censorship.”
They knew very well at the time there was a certain streamer sending his viewers to spit on people who bought store mounts. It got so out of hand that some of them were spitting on people who had the Mage legendary dragon form. Thinking it was a store mount. So that would be their way of knowing any spit towards a player was a direct result of that controversy. It was sometime after the blue dragon was released in the store after the Mechagon patch.
So it’s not like there wasn’t anything to link the cause.
Well, we all know that will never happen on the forums.
for once. lol
Yea the timing of it all and the player response to it says otherwise, but keep living in your bubble. If you don’t have the discernment to see that then I don’t know what to tell you.
