WA and DBM devs reporting Addon nerfs in 10.1

You must have enemy cast bars disabled. Turn them on. Fixed.

The only encounter I can think of in the last few years that had something that wasn’t clearly telegraphed was the pirate dragon boss in Tazzavesh, and that was just for the tank. (She stops tracking your movement at 50% but there’s no indication unless watching her cast bar, which you can’t do because you’re looking behind to aim the blast.)

Its more about timers. I dont want to use a cd like rune of power 2s before some ability comes out. Addons are the only way to trwck that now.

They can ban dbm/WA all together if they provide this

They had this back in SLs, it was added to break mods on the Lords of Dread fight. For a short while it was possible for WA to actually tell you who was the “fake”, making the mechanic completely trivial. They later modified it so WA could no longer read that information.

So it’s not a surprise that they would expand upon this feature. They just need to remember that they got into a war of making things more difficult to counter raid mods, so if they start dropping the hammer on them then they need to dial back the mechanics.

WA deserves its nerfs and should be banned.

DBM won’t get banned as it’s relied upon by far more than WA and isn’t as extensive.

I’m completely open to nerfing addons, as long as Blizzard CHILLS with the over-the-top mechanics.

So you want WoW players to learn encounters like they have to in ff14?

I dunno how that’ll work out as nearly everyone that raids uses DBM and GTFO while the top raiders all use WA too.

They’ve been conditioned to be told how to play the encounter and not learn the encounter.

This is great news. The players should be solving puzzles not programs lol. Also, Blizzard should think about blocking the API for WeakAuras entirely so the majority of players that want to try raiding won’t be gatekept due to an artificial learning curve. Furthermore, by removing these raid addons, Blizzard can now optimize the difficulty based on player skill and not artificial skill by these problem solving bots.

why would players want to negate them - aren’t they ‘fun’?

This isnt how it works. They use the same APIs. You cant break one without breaking the other.

LOL? I already said I can even play with no addons. What makes you think I have that disabled?

Some telegraphs are hard for people to see. I’ll take the “other game” telegraphs over this anyday.

Blizzard could put in a system to regulate addons and require their approval to be allowed usage.

I would think it’ll be good but I don’t trust this company to be honest about their workings. It seems more of a sneaky move.

Username checks out.

If an addon can automate something, players will use it. It’s not a matter of fun.

That’s a problem with their flawed class design approach, though. Nothing to do with addons or encounter designs.

A lot of class abilities are dumb. I can get ~20 seconds of 32% more damage through Weapons of Order, but I have to pool Keg Smashes and start ramping it up ~12 seconds before I get there.

You think Blizzard is designing dumb class cooldowns with addons in mind? I think it far more likely that there are just too many classes in the game, and they want everybody to be different, so they’ve run out of easy-to-use mechanics and ideas.

Which is why adding more classes to the game is insanely stupid.

I would love for somebody to give an actual example of this being true.

I’m also still waiting for somebody to give an example of this.

Nobody seems to be able to come up with anything, though.

People learn how to do FF14-level encounters at the age of 2 when handed their first coloring book. The level of difficulty is about the same.

I disagree.

Those Eden raids in shadowbringers are brutal.

You can know the fights and still be sweating when the big mechanics start rolling in.

Titan in Eden is hilarious as even veterans know hiw dangerous he is despite already beating him.

But by comparison? It doesn’t look like you’ve ever gone anywhere near anything remotely difficult in WoW, so… I mean I’m sure something in FF14 might be brutal in comparison to WoW normal dungeons or something. I guess.

You’re dismissing ff14 pretty easily. Do savage eden Titan then come back and tell me there’s a current WoW raid in the last few expansions that can even remotely be compared to that difficulty.

No addons allowed.
