May the vulpera discussion make the high elves stop smoking. Dont know why but its worth a shot.
06/28/2018 10:30 PMPosted by KwinlenI have never posted on the forums before, and I have been playing WoW for less then a year. So, people can criticize me for being a 'Noob' or 'Uniformed Dork' all they please. I personally think incorporating the Vulpera is a smart decision. Sure, Horde is our 'Built Ford Tough' faction, and Alliance our 'Everythin' is Awesome' one. Except it's an online experience. WoW is an MMORPG, and is constantly evolving. Communities change, and even with senior players threatening to leave, you likely have a dozen new people interested in replacing them.
So, I never take the whole 'I'll leave if Vulpera are made' serious. I mean, after a year of WoW alone, I know it's an exhausting experience to maximum every reputation and character to their full potential. Someone who's been playing since 2006? Oh hey, they want to leave over a slight hiccup? I honestly disbelieve that's the case. Since after a year, I'd never quit over something trivial. Entire decade? I'd hope my time is actually worth 'sucking it up' instead of abandoning ship.
Personally, I'd love to make a Vulpera. I hope the whole 'race-change' option is available, despite the major loss replacing my Pandaren. I could be a humongous dink, and explain 'why' I believe Vulpera will be an actual player-race. Except I know that would be refunded with incredible rage and distaste. So, despite the risk, I will make a couple notable examinations on my behalf here.
1: Vulpera have an excessive amount of effort put towards their animations, textures, customization, and sounds. Beyond any previous NPC, and even some current races. Such things cost money. Now, would Blizzard invest a fortune in NPC's without intention of using them for more?
2: People have successfully 'Data-Mined' information about them. Including skills, animations NPC's would never use, and even Horde insignias which would be irrelevant for regular characters. It's obvious even as NPC's, based on these results, Vulpera would prefer Horde interaction.
3: Horde has been on the 'sharp' end, far as story-content is concerned. I noticed we have lost multiple faction leaders. Alliance, from what I understand, lost their 'main' leader in the Legion expansion. Except the Horde has lost their Troll one, original Tauren one ( Could be mistaken ), Orc one ( Garrosh ), and even Thrall abandoned ship for whatever reasons. So, it would be nice having a new, adorable creature, to make amends for everyone else being absolutely dead.
4: I know people argue re-using the Goblin skeletons, except let's be sensible here. Highmountain Tauren are exactly the same, but with antlers added. Lightforged Draenai are similar, but with 'holier' features added. Similar skeletons being used is common practice in game-design. Saves money, helps with a default model, and also sets an adequate set of limitations. Do the new 'Trolls' have their own skeleton? Unlikely. Newly made Human's? Probably not. Since they are all pre-existing and modified. Again, common sense. I could be wrong.
5: It's really hard to ignore how the content was 'Data-Mined' prior. Blizzard, or any company for that matter, would not logically place as much effort in an NPC race without intention of making them player-based. Except one could argue, Nightborne had some issues when being prepared. Such as the 'dungeon' where you're disguised as one, many were not animated properly. Perhaps they intend on avoiding that mistake? Perhaps they want to make the best NPC's of one faction, any game has ever seen, with an incredible budget? Either way, I only hope the Vulpera will be made available.
I have this creeping concern that despite all the obvious information, what will happen is much like 'Half Life 3' on Steam. Too many people will 'cheat' the information, and forfeit the content from being created.
Great to see new faces showing support! =D You pretty much hit just about every point in favour of the Vulpera. I'm glad to see others are seeing the picture =3

I am crossing my fingers so hard for this also!
Indeed.
The datamined class list for Vulpera has paladin on it, and they also have a Summon Charger placeholder spell. Man, I really hope this all sticks. I'd roll a foxy paladin in a heartbeat.
Although I'm sad for folks who wanted to play a Zandalari paladin, which would have made lore sense but it got ripped away from them...conversely, it gives me hope that the Vulpera will fill the void and become the Horde's third paladin race.

Ungh, now my hopes are up. :/
Come on Sunwalker hyena mount!
Yes! Horde needs a third Paladin race especially when Alliance already has a third race that can be Shaman and possibly a fourth if Kul'Tirans are able to be which I think they will.06/29/2018 06:25 AMPosted by Muyfeagrande[quote="207640979091"]

Glad my post was received well. I always feel anxious when making a response to such heated topics. I know it's a fairly casual environment here, but some people do become excessively defensive of their opinions. I was worried someone might send me flack, almost instantly. Heh.
On a related topic, I have been coming up with 'Vulpera' inspired Guild-Names:
1: Felpera. ( For those Vulpera with a touch of envious color )
2: Novulpera Rain. ( Guns N' Roses fans might understand )
3: Vulperrier Water. ( Because they are so refreshing and bubbly )
4: Foxes McWarcraft. ( Needed a poor Star Fox reference here )
5: Eeveelutionary. ( Have a bunch of different elemental casters? )

Another small race might be nice, and they are pretty cute.
That said... getting high quality furry goblins before we get that upgrade to goblin models that every other race got during the last xpac would just be sad.
C'mon Blizz, goblin faces just look wrong when everyone else has actual functional eyes and they don't.

If it makes you feel any better, prior to Vulpera surfacing on the radar, Goblin and Worgen updates were what I wanted most.
Now they're second, but I super promise to get back to advocating for them AFTER Vulpera.

We've done the best we can to encourage positive dialogue and not foster negativity. =3

Maybe we're so positive because we actually have substance and hope to graspe onto.

I always wondered how the Forsaken can drown. Do they simply become heavy with water, and sink?

The drowning animation is used whenever a character or NPC dies while in water, it need not be an actual drowning. This is actually an animation they'd need even as just NPCs.
I don't remember what the forsaken animation is off hand but I assume it's like any other, just a flail and the bobbing in place

I was more making light of the situation. Seemed like a bummer, since the animation for Vulpera is needed, but depressing in context. Does help verify their rather possible player-character status, except you mentioned NPC's can drown? I have honestly never seen that happen, unless it's quest or zone specific?

They can't drown by running out of air, but most NPC creatures and races have a drowning animation that is used any time they die while swimming. (Like if you swim into a river and they chase after you and you kill them there)

Ehh, I can see Druid and Warlock as the two least likely classes that the Vulpera would get.
Anyway. We gotta keep the poor little guys from using that drowning animation too much.
Shoot, what the name of that engineering helmet that lets you breathe underwater?
Can you still buy the schematics for that?
