Would getting exalted w/ voldunai be required to unlock vulpera? If so, what would the rep requirement be for junker gnomes? There’s a scrapyard in tiragarde, but Kul’Tirans require exalted w/ proudmoore, and vol’dun/drustvar are linked to the same emissary quest/rep zone.

Whatever alliance get, it’d have to be linked to the current reputations in some way, and the reputations for 2/3 of the current alliance ARs didn’t exist until quite late into the previous expansion? Maybe they’ll do the same again.

If Tinkers are really going to be a thing, the junker geosets could perhaps be used as class options like DH horns rather than an AR.

I think they’ll be a new rep from 8.2. There’ll be enought time to get Exalted with it before 8.2.5.

Blizz will probably make it easier to rep up as well.

That would be sad. Very sad, for the Alliance!
A true spit between our eyes!

Another chance lost to the Alliance and more people heading to the Horde! :wolf:

I’m also convinced it’ll be junker gnomes, which should make you sad even if you’re a fan of gnomes. Why would you want an allied race that should just be expanded customization for your already playable race? Lightforged draenei are literally just “cooler draenei” and that’s the same deal you get with junker gnomes.

JInyu, sethrak, broken, furbolgs, or whatever else would all be more unique additions to the faction lineup.

Not only does it seem likely Alliance gets none of those, but they’re also going to be introduced to a new flavor of jinyu only to probably leave them behind or be told they’re too few to be a playable allied race later.

It’d likely be a faction added with Mechagon.

Probably will be though. Mechagnomes would have been cooler than the Junker.

I won’t judge the junker gnomes until I see their storyline, aesthetics and customization. But I’m not expecting much.

Not trying to start a debate…but I am rather curious. Why are you all so adamant on the Junker Gnome being the next AR? Is it just your personal opinion? Or was something leaked out that definitely points towards that being the direction?

All I know was that we’re getting a gnome area that is accessible to both horde and alliance, a new 8-boss dungeon, a slightly stronger plot for alliance with Mechatorque going there. We saw models of 8 of them, we don’t know if they’re fixed models or customizable yet, either.

I mean, yes it’s a possibility, but…why so 100% certain they’re going to be paired up with the vulpera?

I’m just curious what your reasoning is, that’s all. :3

  • Years ago, when the new models were being released in WoD, there was a strong movement in the comunity asking for subraces. A thread of mockup images of several potential subraces got popular in MMO-C, one of them being a half-robot half-flesh “mechagnome”. Several devs commented on those concepts via Twitter or other means. Guess which race idea was cited as very interesting? By the time of WoD, Legion was already planned. The next expansion was BfA, which brought allied races.
  • Allied races are all using models from existing races. Most of them are subraces. The chance of a gnome subrace is very very high.
  • A subzone in Tirisgarde is all about setting up the mechagon storyline. It’s an Alliance-only quest area. The amount of effort put into those gnomish doodads of the area shows it will be a way bigger storyline than what we got so far.
  • Several datamined files hinting at “junker gnomes” were found on BfA alpha. These included a “junker gnome island” map and many doodads. Also, a “junker” pet was found (I think it was a prairie dog) that is part-mechanical part-flesh.
  • Unlike vulpera, there’s no other race in BfA 8.0 that was hinted at becoming a future Alliance race. We already discussed why I feel the Sethrak were never set up to become playable.
  • Mechagon storyline in 8.2 comes right in time to introduce junker gnomes before they become playable.
  • “Mechagnome” slide from Blizzcon panel hints at being a playable-quality model, specially due to unique hairstyles available to the little freaks.
  • It makes sense that, if vulpera are the “goblin” allied race, then its Alliance counterpart will be based on gnomes.
  • There’s no other potential allied race option with more solid evidence than junker gnomes right now.
  • There were other hints I’m not remembering right now. But junker gnomes are such a no-brainer that when Mechagon was revealed at Blizzcon it wasn’t a surprise at all.

The Alliance asks if they can have High Elves!
No, you can’t!
But let’s make a xerox of blood elves ( purple flavor ) without lore and without personality, whose only value is the appearance of blood elves who don’t want the Alliance has, such as placeholder!

The Alliance asks if we can have Vrykuls!
Don’t! Because Vrykuls would be something too good for the Alliance. But we’re going to give a bunch of sailors obese and rednecks!

the Alliance, naively, ask if we can have Sethraks! They look cool!
Let’s give it to you junkergnomes, which does not compare with vulperas, for you to feel miserable, why all the Alliance receive, must be ridiculous or undignified somehow!

By you guys at Alliance deserve something good???
Don’t you understand yet? You will play with scraps and leftovers!
Ahh! And if one day we give draconicos to the Horde, we will give sporeggar has for the Alliance, to keep the balance!

Really! Junkergnome has no comparison with vulperas.
If this is done will be depressing.

I don’t disagree with you at all - Alliance is in kind of a sad state with significantly more content and resources being given to Horde. The extra Horde story quests have been great so far and what is coming next week looks even more interesting!

Alliance deserve something ferocious and cool like Sethrak and I would be thrilled beyond measure if it was a surprise-twist and they were released (and we haven’t datamined more because they leaked too much with the vulpera or something) - but I’m not holding my breath. Faction balance is important but never seems to make its way into the live game.

Actually, the heavy data mining of the Vulpera was actually simultaneously being done with the sethrak stuff was being datamined. It just so happens that there was a lot more found them off the Vulpera before the info was super encrypted and we no longer found out anything.

So, I think there’s a great deal more about the sethrak that we just haven’t gotten to, since it was locked before more was discovered. At least, that’s what I want to believe myself. Since last year when the last of the info was discovered, we found out nothing more about either of the two, there was just a lot more at that time found with the Vulpera.

It’s entirely possible there’s a great deal of things being hidden away about sethrak, but frankly the story beats just don’t seem to line up with the idea very well.

Are the naga invasions active on the PTR yet? Do sethrak have any part in them? Their lack of involvement in the Vol’dun incursion was disheartening.

Vulpera just keep showing up in the story. Even if it’s just for a bit part, it’s still a lot more build up than sethrak are getting if they are due to be playable soon™.

which is so aggravating xD but I actually agree entirely…I’m just being hopeful is all. I’m not against an AR like the junkergnome but…I’m tired of getting these AR with less than a patch of story and getting so little developement to grow to love them…instead of constantly having them thrown at us while the horde is getting all this time to interact with them. HM Tauren, Nightborne, Zandalari, Vulpera…they’ve all been expansion long. Almost all the alliance AR’s have been giving much much less time in comparison.

I will continue to wish for something with the sethrak, even if it seems unlikely, until we know what exactly we’re getting for the next two ARs. Then I will give up hope and move on xD…and if that happens, I still have a shiny new worgen model to play with <3

I don’t think the sethrak stu at all unlikely as allied races. In fact I’m still convinced they are the next alliance race. One of the things Blizzard has stated AND been consistent about is that allied races should be introduced and interacted with before becoming playable. Since they’ve stated they also want the allied races relevant to they expansion story, this leaves the alliance with only the sethrak as their next race. Techgnomes are probably happening too, but they won’t be next. They’ll be introduced long before they are playable

There is also parity between races!
Nightborne and void belves use magic!
Zandalar and Kultiras have the sea and their navies in common!

Vulperas are not technological as are the junkgnomes!

They have no parallel in common!
Vulpera live in a desert and junkgnomes in an industrial courtyard.
