Vulpera Discussion Megathread (Part 1)

Vulpera won’t be added for a few reasons.

  1. They have no lore.
  2. They have no personality.
  3. They don’t want to be involved in the war. They run away during fights. This can be seen in Vol’dun world quests.
  4. They’re a tiny, tiny group, not a large faction. They are also weak. They bring literally nothing to either the Alliance or the Horde by joining.
  5. They have no reason to join, as they inhabit a tiny speck of rock nobody cares about in the middle of Vol’dun.

Neither do Void Elves.

Desert dwelling race of scavengers and smugglers. Plenty of personality to me.

Nisha doesn’t run from any fights.

Same could be said about Void Elves, Mag’har Orcs, and Lightforge Draenei.

The newly named 7th Legion Despoilers say “Hi!”.

Can’t think a better time to save face than giving players what they want like Vulpera and Sethrak.

“Neither do Void Elves.”

Void Elves are incredibly powerful and carry with them all the lore of the Blood Elves.

“Desert dwelling race of scavengers and smugglers. Plenty of personality to me.”

That’s a goblin.

“Nisha doesn’t run from any fights.”

The vulpera in the world quests do. The vast majority don’t want anything to do with the fighting.

“Same could be said about Void Elves, Mag’har Orcs, and Lightforge Draenei.”

Incredibly powerful void-attuned wizards, the originators of the orcish horde, and draenei who held their own against the Legion for a thousand years. No, you could not say the same.

“The newly named 7th Legion Despoilers say “Hi!”.”

Irrelevant. Every single new race has brought something major to the table. The goblins brought trade and their massive engineering industry. Worgen brought a fighting force of incredible potency. Blood Elves brought their magical tradition and paladins to the Horde. Draenei brought their experience with the Legion and formidable fighting abilities and otherwordly tech.

Every single race to join has had something major to contribute, and most have had some very large piece of land somewhere to defend, that could benefit the Alliance or the Horde. See also: Zandalar and Kul’tiras.

And Vulpera know how to survive harsh environments and make the most out of sparse resources, can disable or circumvent traps (mundane and magical), and have a talent for Alchemy that even the RAS appreciates.

Love how you claim the 7th Legion Despoilers are irrelevant though.

They have plenty of reason to join the Horde, the very faction who saves them from imprisonment and torture, and seek vengeance against those who wronged them. The 7th Legion is entirely relevant.

At the start of this thread everyone believed they’d be in by 8.2, but they’re not.

I’m not giving you reasons why I think they should be excluded, I’m giving you reasons why they are excluded.

You’ve given your reasons why you think they’re excluded. Nothing you have said is confirmed by Blizzard how they chose who does or doesn’t get chosen to be an Allied Race. They’ve never shared that information.

Well, your toon’s skin is blue, but I guess we can’t confirm that until Blizzard says it.

So, you don’t have an proof on how Blizzard chooses their Allied Races and your reasoning are in fact just assumptions you’ve made.

Cool. We’re on the same page now.

Every reason I gave for why each race joined a faction is the canonical lore reason.

The Vulpera have no land that benefits a faction, no military might, no resources. Their entrance into the Horde would not benefit the Horde. That’s a fact.

Deal with it.

But that is not a proven reason why Blizzard would or would not add a race as an Allied Race.

Rule of Cool is how Blizzard operates and the Vulpera have vocal support on the forums. Enough people think something is cool, Blizzard will do it.

They have it, and way more than void elves or lightforged draenei.

Yes, they do. Did you even play the Vol’dun storyline?

Running away? You mean, the slaves you free?
They are excellente scouts/spies, and very resourceful. And they do fight when they need to, as the Vol’dun storyline shows.

So?

And yet they fought and defeated the Faithless empire.

They bring new looks, resources and some crafty tactics.

Reasons can be made as the story progresses. Most allied races only have a reason given on their recruitment storyline.

Unfortunately, I fear Sethrak are out. But Vulpera will be playable. Before the end of the year!

Imo I think there’s probably going to be info that shakes up a lot of things for the story in 8.2+ which is why pretty much almost all data-mining so far for Dazar’alor and soon after it is pretty much all we’ve uncovered so far.

And what have we learned from it? Not much in the sense of what we already knew (Old Gods, Sylvanas’s war path, Xalatath, etc). None of these are anything eye opening.

I’m betting there’s going to be some huge shake ups in regards to the overall faction war and Old God things when 8.2 and 8.2.5 come around. Including the information centered around Allied Races for the rest of the expansion.

Just seems like everything is so far away right now without much of substance happening in between.

Blizzard are remaining much more tight lipped going forward with the story of BFA than I’ve ever seen them do, and I wonder if it’s because there’s some large twist planned that they don’t want to spoil.

If nothing comes, there is at least Blizzcon 2019 which will detail the rest of this expansion as well as the next.

To be frank, I think it’s because they are behind schedule in development this time. They tried to do shorter content drought, and ended up having a lot of delays.

I personally think it’s because of all the internal chaos going on with the company, they ARE being sued and their president just flat out quit. I’d imagine all of this would get in the way of development time.

OK! And blood elves are Ken and Barbie dolls!
A fact!:smirk:

Yes ! Blood Elves lore … in alliance! I feel our lore overrated by either a bunch of placebos from High Elves!

I also do not see maghar staking the foot and struggling to protect their culture and their homeland, but I see vulperas, being able to go anywhere in the world, and still prefer to stay and resist their enemies!

And yet with all that know-all, they came as beggars ask for help from the Horde and Alliance!
They do not seem to me much more important than Sethraks and vulperas who are dealing with their problems, without running for a large broad shoulders that will save them!

The only thing that maghar brought were their mouths! Same with voidbelves!

Zandalar was his fleet, which no longer exists!
Kultirans, it’s just your hunteresque monster!

  1. You clearly didn’t pay attention when you quested in Vol’dun, eh?
  2. See above
  3. There is no indication whatsoever that this is the case, in fact the alliance is pushing them into the horde’s arms with the latest incursion.
  4. See: Void Elves. They are even smaller than vulpera, and yet there are millions of them.
  5. See #1 again

Also of note: Vulpera’s models have been in a mostly playable state, even with player capes rigged to work on them, for over 6 months now. Blizz isn’t going to do that work to make them in this state if they didn’t have a plan of some kind, otherwise they are just wasting resources.

He’s posting to troll guys, and even if he isn’t and firmly believes everything he says, all of it is subjective.

In the end, it’s what Blizzard decides to do, and how the lore progresses. We know nothing still about any future allied races aside from Zandalari and KT, which are both something we’ve known about for months. People that don’t want Vulpera will come up with any excuse to convince themselves it’s not happening, whereas we have a menagerie of reasons to believe they will more than any other race people are asking for right now.

  1. We know Vulpera have a lot of model work.
  2. We know they’re relevant and lean heavily toward Horde, especially recently.
  3. We know that they do have a history, culture, and personality, just one that some dislike and therefore come up with excuses to explain that ‘they’re not happening’.
