the only fault with this, however, is that the voldunai would be exalted almost guaranteed by this point. Introducing a new rep for Sethrak would be a real jerk move to make alliance grind for weeks to get them unlocked while most who have been playing since launch would have the Vulpera rep more than ready. UNLESS they somehow tie the sethrak rep towards another kultiran rep (only one plausible is Storm’s Wake…since both focus on storms and the like)
It wouldn’t make any sense because the alliance does not have an equivalent so if vulpera were unlocked through a rep the alliance would have to grind a new one where as the horde got to work on theirs from the start? Makes 0 sense. I feel like theyll either be a new rep, along with the alliance equivalent, or unlocked some other way. Keep in mind ‘voldunai’ refers to everyone who resides in voldun, it is not exclusive to vulpera.
IMO, the counterpart won’t be the sethrak.
While I saw some chance of being them during beta, after playing the Vol’dun story on both factions I don’t see Blizzard intending the sethrak to be that important going ahead.
I think it’ll be the junker gnomes. Yes, I’m serious. No, I’m not happy with that.
They can always make the Alliance rep be easier and faster. Like breezing to Revered through quests, then being generous with rep tokens.
I dont find that likely personally, but we will see. And God please dont let it be junker gnomes. Those things are so ugly and their… differences to gnomes would be mostly always covered up by gear making the entire thing useless. I’m praying they are just npcs or at the most a customization unlock for gnome players. Vulpera are so unique and have so much put into them it would be the ultimate scum bag move to pair them with gnome reskins
I feel the opposite. Once Blizzard realized that they released too much info, they suddenly encrypted everything on any AR since the Vulpera was found out. Even MMO-Champion has had them listed under ‘allied races’ since the big leak. Sethrak had quite a bit leaked as well but was then left to nothing.
I feel that if they wanted them to be unimportant in the expansion, they wouldn’t have bothered showing them off at all at blizzcon '17.
Junkergnomes I feel will be an AR eventually, but the fact that they’re neutral to both factions leads me to believe they’ll follow more of the Nightborne or HM Tauren route and become available later on instead of 8.2 since it’s not faction specific. Of course it will depend on how interactions go with each faction while in their city.
I don’t care if Mecha are introduced, I’m not very caring for them but others are and that’s great for them! I, however, will keep my hopes up until I have no reason to believe in it any more~
that was my other point I just didn’t want to reiterate what you had already stated (about the new vs reskin)
Blizzard has been showing a pretty recognizable trend with the pairs released…so it’s only logical that if horde gets something fresh and new, that alliance will as well! It was even stated in an interview before that ‘What if each faction got something that seemed out of place? Horde might get something cutesy while Alliance might get something more beastlike and ferocious’
obviously that’s not a direct quote but it sums up what they said, essentially.
Yeah I think we need to just hope blizzard is not so stupid and cruel as to do that to the alliance. One thing I kind of noticed with allied races is that they’re usually pretty opposite of each other. Having two shorties together seems off.
not to mention goblin and worgen were released at the same time~ so chronologically speaking, if the goblin are getting their counterpart, it’d be a kind of cool idea to keep the worgen counterpart along with them.
Well, I hope I’m wrong. While I don’t particularly care for sethrak, they are at least an interesting and refreshing addition.
Well, the only sure thing (95% chance) right now, IMO, is that vulpera will be playable. All else is uncertain.
give this a read :3 I found it REALLY fascinating and is why I’m holding onto the Vulpera/Sethrak combo so strongly
edit: that’s a really strange way to post a link…oh well! It works!
Yeah Blizz did get a lot of slack for releasing allied races for the Alliance to grind so late into Legion if they are smart they wouldn’t do it again.
I hope they tie it to Voldunai. I NEEDED my hyena! I got exalted a few weeks ago hehe.
‘I hope it’s just a questline and done!’, no rep grind necessary
I can see Licking can be bad if the lickee didn’t want to be licked. I actually like being licked so anyway.
Always ask before you straight out lick someone. What if they don’t like it. If they say no then no if they say yes then go ahead and lick away.
Licking politeness.
Uhh… you DO realize that’s exactly what they did in Legion, right? Horde were the only faction with an allied race rep you could start grinding from the beginning of the xpac, namely Highmountain. Even the Nightfallen had a rep you could start grinding shortly afterwards. Both Alliance allied races required you to grind rep for two of the last factions to become available, and since you couldn’t do it while levelling up they were among the hardest to get.
The Voldunai does represent all of Vol’dun, yes, but the faction vendor is a vulpera and almost all of the items you can get from them (including the mount) are vulpera in nature. Personally I’d love it if all we had to do was do the questline where you liberate them from the sethrak, that would make a heck of a lot more sense. But if there’s a rep grind, it’s going to be Voldunai.
Same I’m really burnt out on rep grinding and find it far slower in BFA than Legion at the very least they should have more ways to grind reps for those that lead to an Allied race.
I’ve been lucky that, since none of the allies has gotten access to the hero classes, I’ve been able to play up my daemon hunter and death knight with few worries. Mostly going and running some older content that I’ve missed over the years while I wait for any sort of news.
I’ve been mostly playing on my alliance shammy, been holding off on doing horde. In 8.1 I’ll probably power a horde toon to 120 using xp from the new incursions and dungeon runs. Then just stick to WQs and emissaries until I know what the vulpera unlock requirments are.
I hate to say it, but I agree. Sethrak don’t do much of anything in 8.1, and it seems unlikely they’ll suddenly get involved in the story again with 8.1.5 and 8.2. Vulpera, by contrast, are staying involved and have a few different groups scattered around to draw from too.
I get the sinking feeling Alliance won’t get the deep sea tribe shown off at Blizzcon, either.
Like it or not, with all that customization they showed them having, junker gnomes look an awful lot like an allied race to me.
I still have hope for Sethrak as a counterpart. Junkers are talked about right now, but I feel like they’d fit as a customization. Full mechas, however, might make a good allied race and yeah, maybe a counterpart. I think we’ll have to see. If Sethrak don’t get added with Vulpera, there’s always a chance for the future, of course.
