I will be honest I think tons of races should be added to the game.
As far as playable vulpera are concerned I honestly don't see any reason to panic at all. It was simply too soon to officially announce them.
We have no shortage of datamined information pointing toward them eventually becoming playable. Lore-wise the narrative of why they'll join the Horde has been falling into place.
Also to take into account:
Blood trolls aren't happening and they told us so.
High elves aren't happening and they told us so.
And yet they're still being entirely dodgy about vulpera. That's a very good sign.

Yay, we're still going!
personally i don't mind waiting a blizzcon or two for the vulpera to be announced, as long as they can be paladins that is >:3
(i know the chances of that happening are next to nothing, but only the WoW team can crush my dreams u__u)

Source?
Well, I'm keeping the name I picked just in case. I have special plans to race change my gnome into a Vulpera should the opportunity ever arise.
Well, if the vulpera AR are linked to the sethrak like a lot of us think, they may not have announced vulps without the sethraks next story leg laid out in order to keep people from getting too hyped or something.
What does a vulpera say?

Death to the Sethrak!
And hopefully at some point in the future "For the Horde!"

It's why I'm staying optimistic. XD
So 8.2.5 feels FOREVER away but gives plenty of time to build up the world of MechaGnomes if that's really where the Alliance is going to go. The Vulpera are clearly a labor of love for a few people at Blizzard and if the Darkmoon Faire can get a rollercoaster because of a pet passion, our fox people shouldn't go to waste!
Don't lose hope fellow Vulpera lovers!
I have been watching this thread ever since it has been created. I want Vulpera as much as all of you!
I am positive the Vulpera will become an allied race sooner or later, we just gotta be patient.

I don't think anybody lost faith from the BlizzCon disappointment. It would have been nice to get confirmation, but since they didn't confirm or deny any new races we are left at the same place we were before. Vulpera are happening, it's just a matter of when.
I'm working on getting exalted with the faction so when it comes out I'll be ready. I hope there is no other requirements to unlocking them. I'm going to make my first one a rogue. Seems very fitting.
I'm still curious as to what the Alliance counterpart will be. It seems strange it is not as clearly defined as the Vulpera.

I think that's because when the Vulpera was leaked so heavily, they put a tight lid and seal on anything they were doing in PTR involving AR or anything similar to them.
I'm certain Vulpera would be slated for 8.2 due to the fact that they said (don't remember where) each major patch would have one associated, and I don't see any other candidates that are in BFA up to that point to build a friendly relations with.
The only counterpart that goes with them is the Sethrak for alliance, a fair amount of info was leaked on them as well but since then...nothing. So we'll have to see what story unfolds when 8.1 goes live, I believe that'll give us a better answer.
Since the warfront in 8.2 is going to be in the Barrens, the Vulpera would definitely be of a great help and could even be linked to that in the story.
The Barrens in lore is a much bigger and harsher place than the game would have it seem, and if open war happens there I can imagine many races having problems waging war properly. The vulpera, however, would see the Barrens as bush league compared to life on Vol'dun, where you have both scorching sun in the day and temperatures way below freezing at night. Great asset for the Horde's war effort in the Barrens, either for smuggling, sabotage, espionage and similar roles of importance.
