Vulpera based on Lombax?

Both Lombax and Vulpera have fox like appearances. Also the goblin town named “Ratchet” is neutral territory in Kalimdor. Ratchet is the Lombax protagonist from Ratchet & Clank. This a coincidence?

What’s that?

Ratchet n Clank yo lol

What’s that? Lol

I would say yes. The pairing looks clearly inspired by Ratchet and clank.

Lombax are feline based while Vulpera are based on Vulpes, canines.

Lombaxes are a hodge podge of animals. Not just foxes.

They are very similar in appearance.

Ratchet and Clank is one of the PS2 Classics. One of sonys bigger games of that era.

A “Lombax” is the alien race of the main protagonist and playable character of the game franchise, which is a sort of fox-lion hybrid.

Well I mean with the fact that Vulpera and Mechagnomes were released at the same time the Ratchet & Clank reference couldn’t be more obvious.

Yes.

Oh, thank you! :relaxed:
I still see vulpera more as a middle eastern inspired race though

You are not pairing me with a mechagnome.

Not really

The feet are paddle like. Not fox like
The muzzle isn’t long like a fox
Lombax tails are long with a bit of fluff at the end like a lion. ( that new girl one that showed up shouldn’t even have a tail by Insomniacs own rules of Lombaxes. Only the men have them )

While a lombax has long ears they’re more flag like and not like a fox or even a fennec fox.

I always thought they reflected the Gypsies. Nomadic, caravans, scavengers, etc. They have a lot of similarities.

But they live in a desert

Ehhhhhh, I’m not really seeing it myself.

In general, small anthropomorphic animal characters aren’t exactly an uncommon thing in games/animation. Kind of hard to call something like that.

And we dance and sing in easily stereotyped fashions!

And you fall for it.

But she does.

That you can cite a previously outdated “rule” that isn’t upheld anymore doesn’t change the fact that next to a Vulpera they look similar.

they are based of the mention of a gnomish-foxlike wild god in the War of the Ancients books published in 2005.
