I’m curious. Why is it that Vulpera don’t get a full set of bags like the other allied races? I’ve been leveling as many of my allied races as I can before tomorrow and after max leveling 3 races so far (2 Alliance and a Horde) I started a Vulpera yesterday. I noticed that my Lightforged, Void Elf, and Nightborne all came with their normal backpack and 4 10 slot large red sacks (60 slots total), but the Vulpera only came with their extra large backpack and only 1 10 slot large red sack (38 slots total). Is this a bug or something? I understand that one of the racial traits is 8 extra slots on your main bag (kind of cruddy in my opinion, but oh well) but I would think you you would at least get 2 more large red sacks to get closer to what the other allied races get for total slots. Am I wrong and missed something? Thanks.
New character on a new server, but yea was going to upgrade any way. I was just curious why one race got fewer bags than the others I worked on previously. I wanted to make sure this was the norm, though unsure why it would be, and not a bug that needed to be submitted. Cost me like 50G to grab 4 14 slot bags to tide me over. Thanks though.
This… might be a change to all Allied Races. I just made a Vulpera to confirm what you stated, I remember mine starting with 4 bags, as well as a Nightborne to compare.
The Nightborne I just created only started with only a single 10 slot bag just like the Vulpera. This is either a bug with Allied Races -or- they have been changed to only start with 1 free bag instead of 4.
EDIT: Yeah, just tried with a Mag’har as well and only started with a single 10 slot bag. My gut says it’s a change to what Allied Races start with though its a curious change…
Ever since the prepatch dropped its been only 1 extra bag, as far as I know. There were some complaints about in in the ptr when they first started doing that before the prepatch came out.
Yes, I have a fox that I created before 9.0 and he got all the bags. A friend told me after the patch that a new fox they created only got the base bag.
Seems a bit miserly, to be honest. Another case of “we will dictate the terms under which you play, and one of those terms is that you will now have to find your own bags”.
Which, of course, just has me getting one of my alts to fling Hexweave Bags at them and get on with levelling. It only punishes new players, which seems at odds with the whole “rewarded for unlocking an allied race” schtick.
I know you were joking, but increasingly I get the feeling that the devs are on a hardcore Classic nostalgia bender and keep on bringing back stuff that was rightly removed (for basic quality-of-life) years ago.
“We felt pain and through my rose-coloured glasses it was awesome” is not a great point of view from which to do modern game design.
The second thread’s TC makes a very valid point also. Character’s leveling through Exile’s Reach come out with a full set of bags (Actually, one more than a full set) ranging from 6-12 slots. Demon Hunter’s start with full 20 slot bags.
To further test this I confirmed the DH starting bags as well as checked AR DK’s and Normal DK’s. Allied Race and Normal DK’s start with 4 12 slot bags and, just confirming, DH’s do indeed start with 4 20 slot bags.
It is really strange that they changed it for Allied Races but Hero Classes still seem to start with full bags.
Here is my issue. I wouldn’t really mind the change if it felt consistent. The fact that it was only made to AR’s using core classes while AR’s and Core Races making DK’s and then DH’s still start with full bags is kinda weird to me.
Then again, I don’t understand why this change felt entirely necessary. Why change it? What was the reasoning behind this change, was it really that big of a deal? It’s changes like this that I really wish they would give insight on because it feels so far out of left field. Not to mention you then look at DH’s and DK’s and go “Okay, but what about them? They were dropped down to start at lower levels now, why are they keeping their bags?”
I don’t think this is correct. I started leveling with the pre-patch because of the fast 10-50 AAP runs that were being touted, as something to do during the wait wait for SL to actually launch. The first two I created were a Lightforged and a Void Elf, both because I wanted to race change two of my alts and have access to the heritage armor for those races afterwards. Both came with 4 10 slot large red sacks, in fact they still have them as far as I know because I never upgraded them. I finished my VE around the end of last month, because it was before the 16th Anniversary event hit.
As was stated above, it’s not a big deal, 10 slot sacks are only like 4g and the 14 slot packs I got were like 11g, it was just a weird thing to noticed when I first logged into the character compared to the others. It was more a curiosity on why, whether it was because of the Vulpera race ability, or a bug, but looking at the reply from Byucknah, it looks like it might have been changed across the board recently and my first two just missed the cut off date. /shrug
