Vrykul Race

Screw fox people, screw snake people. Can we get these giant humanoids as an allied race?

I agree.

Vrykul Humans are Better.

Vrykul would’ve been much cooler than Kul Tirans

As much as I like the Kul’tirans. The Vrykul were much Better.

If Alliance gets Vrykul I’d like Mok’nathal for the Horde. If we can’t get Mok’nathal then give us ogres but I prefer Rexxar race vs ogre race. Not sure why any of those 3 races aren’t in game yet.

Mok’nathal would have been better then the Maghar. Maghar are cool(because of their heritage armor) but Mok would have made more sense with Rexar playing a bigger part. They went in a weird direction as usual.

Yes please. I’ll get to play my cousins.

How dare you compare these thick pissed off sea lions a Vrykul, Vrukul are images of Odin himself… They are tall giant beast. Freak of natures that have the same values pretty much as Orcs. they are all about honor!

All humans descended from the vrykul; the “big” Kul Tirans just have more of that bloodline left in them. That’s why they’re bigger, stronger (have a look at power lifters, the body types look more “plump” but their strength speaks for itself), and cooler than normal run-of-the-mill Stormwind/Lordaeron/Arathi/Gilnean humans. Mainland humans, I guess, is what I mean.

Would it be pretty cool to literally just have big giant Nordic characters? You betcha. I love the vrkul aesthetics, designs, and lore. But in reality, your average vikings probably looked a bit less like Schwarzenegger in Conan and a bit more like Chris Hemsworth in Endgame. And the Kul Tirans are already in-game, as playable, hulking lads and lasses that tower over their mainland cousins. I’d be all for more braids and beards instead of mustaches and mainsails, but I think that for the time being, that’s probably the closest we’ll get. They also seem to be a bit gun-shy about putting giant races into the game (well, and larger than tauren/Kul Tirans), as people have been asking for Vrykul for ten years at least, and ogres for longer.

Yeah as cool as it would be the devolopers just dont want us to have giant playable characters.

Well, character scale in WoW is already kinda fiddly, given that specific characters are sometimes really huge (probably for gameplay reasons, which is why Garrosh is so much bigger in Siege of Orgrimmar than normal so people can see him and click on him, and why Thrall is therefore larger when he fights Garrosh than he is after Garrosh is defeated, so that their fight looks normal instead of suddenly-massive Garrosh taking on seemingly-small Thrall.

And, larger characters already have problems in certain places, like trying to pass through Thunder Bluff on a tauren riding a kodo. You’d be surprised how many doors to longhouses that connect to bridges that the people who built them won’t fit through on a mount. Put a Vrykul into that situation and you can forget about it. :stuck_out_tongue: Again, coolness factor has to sometimes take a backseat to playability. And I guess we could just scale them down to more-appropriate sizes like the other playable races, but then, if we’re just playing a scaled-down Vrykul anyway, it would probably be easier to just add more customization options to the existing Kul Tirans and mainland humans to give you the aesthetic without having to also program new animations and scale interactions at the same time.

I find it hard to have vrykul!
We already have fat humans as compromise!

That could be argued for most of the allied races though. Lightforged, once you take away the racials, are just different horn options with tattoos. Dark iron and regular dwarves. ZR trolls and darkspear. Highmountain and regular tauren.

There is the problem right there. A tauren gets stuck on so many doors as it is. They would either have to shrink the Vykrul till it ruins them, or enlarge everything to accommodate which isnt about to happen.

I very much support Vrykul for the Alliance with the Ogres as their Horde counterpart. I’ve said this before in a few threads and I’ll say it here:

Both are big, savage races.

Both are shipmakers and make great shipwrights.

Both are progenitors of humans (Vrykul) and orcs (Ogres)

It just seems like a really good pairing, in my opinion. ^^

I fully support the two races. My only issue is playable character size.

They aren’t going to make a race larger than Tauren.

So now I am stuck. Do I really want to play a runt of the litter vrykul/ogre? Almost feels like it defeats the point.

Edit:
Maybe in the next expansion we stumble upon a large Vrykul vs Ogre battle. And due to a gnomish mishap (because lets be real, a goblin mishap would explode), all battle participants are slightly shrunk. Due to this, they seek our aid.

Better than some AR back stories.

Throw them ALL in, is my vote.

If were throwing out preferences, my #1 would be Taunka.

No, because they would be a core race instead, but probably wouldn’t be very hard to implement.
