VPN issue - not connecting to battlenet

With the last update my VPN is not connecting to battlenet or WOW.
I split tunneled and excluded
Battle.net.launcher
World of warcraft Launcher
Battle.net
If my VPN is off I can connect, “on” I get “Attempting to reconnect” or updating file and no progress to the game loader.

When I turn the VPN off and get to the game realms, then turn the VPN back on I can play and switch realms.
Which folder/file am I missing to get the battlenet game screen to load?

I don’t think Blizzard is going to help you out with this because VPNs aren’t officially supported. But if you insist on using one to play, you’ll need to also include wow.exe from within your wow\retail\ folder and probably the WowVoiceProxy.exe from within the wow\retail\utils\ folder.

I have been using a VPN for years with no issues till now. ok, added those 2 and still stuck at “Downloading new files.” Right after hanging for a bit at starting battle net.

As true as that may be, there may have been some technical change behind the scenes that they haven’t made known to users… and wouldn’t make known for whatever reason.

That being said, I regularly hang out in the support forums, and I haven’t seen any other reports of a VPN blocking access to the game. This proves nothing, but does suggest there’s something else at play here.

Reputable VPN services should support video games without any issues. It’s possible you’ll need to take this to the VPN’s support for more information.

Of course it could also be just ‘one of those things’ that resolves itself in a few hours or maybe a day or two. /shrug

You could also try reinstalling Battle.net and/or flushing the cache:

Plus all of this stuff:

You could also grab a different VPN real quick (choose any free one, it’ll work for a minute) and see if that has an effect. Thereby eliminating or confirming the current VPN you use as the cause of the issues.

Good luck!

Edit: Again, it’s anecdotal, but I’ve tested this with my VPN (Windscribe) and it works fine for me, regardless of domestic location chosen (did not test on international locations).
