Killed Rust-Eye the Clever. The pod that should be available on conclusion never drops or appears. Tried numerous times. Cannot unlock Mechagnome race without this quest.
I abandoned the quest hoping I could restart and complete successfully. Now I can’t pick it up. So I’m likely screwed, but maybe a response to this bug can help someone else not be horribly frustrated and disappointed.
Am also experiencing this bug any help would be appreciated

I also am bugged. I died right when Rust eye died so my npc was not able to get the pod and now no matter what i do i cant retrieve the pod.
So I googled this and a page on wowhead (https://www.wowhead.com/quest=57490/voyage-to-safety )
said:
“If the quest won’t complete for you when returning with the pod, stand next to the quest giver and re-log. It will complete instantly.”
But this didnt work for me. What I ended up doing is abandoning the quest, relogging and then accepting the quest again and this time it completed ok.
I’m having this issue. Its bad enough they haven’t fixed Rust-eye damage making him unnecessarily hard to kill, then to get this cant finish it bug when you finally do… AND this has been bugged since May 2021 and still nothing done about it. PULL. OUT. THE. FINGER.
He failed to pick up the pod for me when I had a pet out. Had to drop that quest and start over. Then I had to camp out and relog at quest giver for it to complete. Very bugged.
It’s now 2024 and I’m just doing this and it’s still bugged so I did what you said and it worked. You figure they read these forums and fix stuff but it seems they dont
It’s April 12, 2024 and I still can’t finish this quest on any character.
+1 to this bug, still not fixed, the whole quest is unfinishable. I get that it takes time to find some bugs but this has been going on for over 3 years, come on

Edit: Wait, I untracked the quest and then the question mark popped for me. Got the quest turned in. Try that!
This worked for me! Untracked it, logged out, and when I logged back in the question mark popped up. Thank you!!!
2025 and was still bugged so i took off all addons deleted and retook quest and that worked
