Let’s put some expensive and/or controversial options up for the community to vote on. Examples:
New dances/Dance Studio
15 boss raid tier
10 Dungeon Season
Player Housing
M+ loot nerfed
Mythic raiding removed
Next expansion has same level cap
New Class
Shaman Tank
Mage Healer
Votes cost $1. Integrate with twitch/youtube so people can vote while they watch.
Whichever idea wins, they commit to delivering it. Every quarter, hold the vote again with a new option to replace the previous winner, and anything with fewer then 10% of the vote (removing the top and likely bottom 2 every quarter).
They could also just run categories to see where people want them to put their resources.
Ok I am setting up the vote everyone paypal me with your vote 1 dollar = 1 vote so if you send me 500 dollars that is like 500 votes, get as much voting power as you can
This doesn’t really work with WoW since the vast majority of their profits seem to come from non-subscription fee sources nowadays… so the average player can’t really use “withholding their money” as leverage
WoW token, shop sales, mount sales, etc probably “passed” subscription fee income a while ago… so it’s mostly RMT, carries, bots, and a small minority of loaded whales keeping the game afloat rather than the average player
You can tell the game is no longer primarily kept afloat by the $15/month sub fee because they still reported profits left and right during Shadowlands - and Shadowlands is widely regarded as bad. Also there was TONS of unsubs/players taking a break during Shadowlands - yet the financials stayed in the green/the profits kept rolling in
Democracies are good when it comes down to essential support that requires universal acceptance to play by the same rules. For an example, a well structured company or a country.
Not something which requires people to actually know what they are doing to be in charge. A voting system like this would encourage populism, rather than integral intellectualism.
… and this is before even considering that having to “pay” to vote beyond what we already pay is beyond ridiculous.
The game is overall by and large fine as it is right now. There’s stuff to be improved but DEFINITELY not in a GD-“just suggesting” sort of a fashion.
