To be fair getting kicked for DCing sucks, but at that point it’s best to just suck it up and move on rather than make a forum post about it. Life is just like that sometimes.
If you don’t ask, there’s no chance for things to improve. Rolling over and sucking it up never made progress happen.
I think the problem is you thinking the system you proposed is better.
Sorry you got kicked for disconnecting, but when you play an online game and aren’t online it’s going to happen. I don’t want to wait 3 minutes to kick someone when the dungeon should take 10.
You entire list of safeguards could be abused by someone wanting to troll the group but acting just enough in line with the requirements that he’s impossible to kick
I interact with it VERY often. I’ve leveled 6 toons through classic tw alone since the anniversary started.
If there was a title for LFG dungeon master, I’d have it.
I pretty much never see the things all these posts are QQing about. Especially to the level y’all claim it to be. Which is weird in my thousands upon thousands of runs across hundreds and hundreds of toons over the course of 15 years of lfg…
It’s very obvious this toxicity grossly exaggerated.
I’m not a systems designer for moderation tools. So naturally I can only suggest what I think may work.
I would expect what I’ve suggested would be tweaked by someone who knows what they’re doing to better fit the game.
I’ve leveled three as well, and I too haven’t really seen much of the toxicity people talk about. I’m going to assume it mostly happens in mythic+.
And one of these characters spent the entire 71-80 journey as a super squishy tank. I even said the group could kick me if they wanted and the healer just said “you’re fine, let’s go.” They would have been well within their rights to kick me too, given I got two shot by the first boss in Deadmines and still had ilvl 70 chest and headpiece from the DK starting area.
Same, ever since my family quit playing in Legion I’ve used a lot of random heroic queues, tons and tons of Timewalking and leveled alts almost entirely through dungeons… I think I’ve been kicked twice and have assisted in kicking five people or so. And that’s hundreds and hundreds of runs.
People somehow getting kicked frequently enough to make posts about it are either lying to us, lying to themselves, or very bad and not even realizing it
Drama much? I call it like I see it.
Get over it or get a refund on the account from your ebay seller.
It does. Also sucks for the other 4 if they wait until you get back on. Is that 60 seconds or 60 minutes? Should they wait 10 minutes or finish the dungeon in 5?
Their $60 override OPs $15.
Bingo.
I think most people are decent, and you know that’s also been most of my experience. I’ve done countless LFDs over the years and seen the full range of behaviour. I don’t think people are kicking cause their bad, they just want to get on with the dungeon but putting some extra steps to the system makes it so a bit more thought must goes into kicking someone.
Should be like some other games where if you’re found to have abused a vote kick for bad/illegitimate reasons they action you instead, really the only thing to fix it.
Except every system can be abused and worked around, the only way to prevent “inappropriate kicking,” I literally to have a live customer rep available to review a vote and that isn’t happening lol
If you or anyone else can give me a realistic, unabuseable change then I’ll be on board to back you up.
Unfortunately these posts are about vote kick, which means it’s lfg.
But any time I see one of these posts, and the op is claiming a fraudulent kick. They eventually let it slip they either antagonized it or made a ruckus.
Tbh that is most groups. Most do not care and are more than patient for you to get your barring’s.
It’s when you start acting like a knucklehead is when they start itching for the kick button.
Yup. It’s what bait said. Accountability.
It CAN’T be me. It HAS to be everyone else.
System broke.
But who finds and determined if the kick was justified? I mean if 3 people vote to kick currently that is justified.
You can be kicked for your transmog, that is a legit reason if the majority votes for it.
Groups are empowered to manage their own members through the vote-kick system. If the majority of the group feels a player should be removed, they can initiate a vote-kick to remove them. The system is entirely under the control of our players. Players may choose to remove any other player from the group for any reason, provided the vote to kick passes.
Customer Support does not provide loot, gold, or quest/achievement progress not gained as a result of being kicked from a group.
If you have any feedback about the group management system and how you think it can be improved, please submit a suggestion in-game:
- Press the Esc key to open the Game Menu, and click Support.
- Click Submit feedback or bug report.
- Click Submit a suggestion.
- Follow the guidelines on the submission form, and enter your suggestion.
- Click Submit.
Note: Groups formed outside of the queue system (Guild Runs, Mythic +, etc.) will not utilize the vote-kick system. Instead those groups will have one party leader that controls who gets invited or removed.
As you can see, Blizz washed their hands of the Vote kick system.
Updated 3 weeks ago. They don’t care.
Yeah, I dunno how either.
No such animal. 4 people voted to kick you. You may not agree,
In my experience most groups will wait at least 30-60 sec (or just keep pulling) for someone to get back on. If it’s just a simple DC it shouldn’t take longer than that.
But we’re splitting hairs now. We agree that if you get kicked for DCing there’s no point whining about it, just move on. Even with deserter, there are other things to do in the meantime.
It’s an unfortunate fact that most wow players appear to value convenience over having a good experience.
Sadly true. I miss when it was the adventure, not the loot that drove people to RPGs. Guilds that did more than raidlog, server events, get online and get bombed with people wanting to go do stuff…
It was the people, not the pixels that made old wow great.
Hate to say it (not really), but guess what game doesn’t seem to have a problem with abusive kicks… FFXIV.
It could be that they show a warning stating that if you kick someone with no reason, YOUR account will be actioned… or it could be that the community / player base doesn’t have even a fraction of the toxicity that WoW has.
I’ve played FFXIV since before ARR, and can only recall 2-3 times when someone was kicked from a group. If I do group content in WoW for more than an hour or so, I’ll see someone kicked for anything from their name / transmog to someone spouting off so much that it should be considered a hate crime.
The main problem is that WoW has bred an absolute cesspool of entitled / “competitive” toxicity within their community and continues to encourage it.
