Vortex Pinnacle Altarius Winds Issue

OK so something has changed visually here. Used to be you could easily see what direction the winds where blowing from. But now you can not.

I feel like I am spending to much of my time actually looking for the upstream buff area. Back in Cata you could see what direction the winds where coming from. At first I thought it was just me and I asked others and they have been stating the same thing that the graphics have changed.

Perhaps we could get an update for the visuals for this mechanic.

They changed the visual to thin, almost lightning bolt looking white streaks. On my first visit this week I was scanning for the old animation and was literally blind to the new one. Once you realize what you’re looking for I think you’ll find it just as obvious.

I ran VT 5 times this week. I can never see it. It could be a combination of graphics settings and my old eyes.

Wait wait wait

You don’t want to run around the ring waiting for one of you 5000 weak auras to tell you which way is up wind all the while dodging tornados and then trying to find the right tornado to toss you up to no get stunned like yesterday’s raccoon food?

Pffft where is your sense of adventure!

For a super fun time, ask fellow colour-blind friends how much they love the design. It takes immersion to whole new levels!

I mean, upwind/downwind is much simpler than that. If the winds change and you’re downwind, run through the boss. You’ll be in upwind.

I haven’t confirmed the running through the boss strat, but I don’t think the wind simply reverses. It can come from different angles and depending on your position you could simply end up on the other end of the boss, but still on the downwind side.

For OP, you can see the wind animation in this clip:

I always tell players, make sure the wind blows your stink onto the boss, don’t let the boss’s stench blow onto you.

I guess I should have clarified more. I didn’t mean run through the boss as in in the direction you’re facing him, I mean relative to him/the platform. If you’re in his NW side, run to his SE. If you’re in the East, run through to West.

You’re correct that if, e.g. you’re standing in the SE facing Southish, and you move to become on his SW side, you won’t achieve much if the wind is coming from North. But I’d describe that as running across him, not through.
