Volume Help

So, I have a question about the slider for ‘Master Volume’. I had it set at 2%, which was perfect for the setting I’ve had my PC at. It wasn’t too loud, and wasn’t too quiet. Now some how it’s gotten moved and the lowest I can get it is either 0% or 5%…how do I lower it by single percentages at a time, and not 5% per tick.

Pretty sure you can’t. For some reason with this new UI they made, you can only do things in weird, overly large increments.

Bleh, that really sucks. Well, thank you for your reply.

I have some suugestions.

First (and easiest, IMO): If you right-click on your volume settings in the system tray, you can open the Volume Mixer, which lets you manually adjust the audio output of one particular program. In this case, set WoW as close to what you want as you can get in-game, then “trim” the volume one way or the other using Volume Mixer.

Volume Mixer adjusts in 1% increments, so you should be able to get exactly where you want to be. It’ll also remember your setting forever, so this adjustment is a one-time thing.

Second, you might check for addons that would help with this.

There used to be a couple of WoW addons out there for expanded volume controls. I see Volumizer recently had a community update (but that would require editing files, or manual install, if you’re comfortable with that.) There may be others I’m unaware of.

The addon Advanced Interface Options lets you set console variables (Cvars) directly. The Cvar for master volume can be anywhere from 0 to 1, for example 50% volume would be 0.5. You’d have to install it to test, but if you can input two decimal places, then 0.02 would get you to 2% volume.

Or you can bypass Advanced Interface Options and play around with:

/run SetCVar("Sound_MasterVolume", <value>)

…where "<value>" is the decimal value of the sound level you want, from 0 to 1. I know 0.1 would be 10%, but I do not know if, for example, 0.01 would be 1%. It may be limited to the 10% jumps in value and 1 decimal place.

Good luck!
